چکیده

Despite the simple design of instruments such as flutes, organs, whistles, and recorders, not all their sound-generation dynamics is understood. The excitation mechanics of these instruments resembles the phenomenon of blowing across the mouth of an empty bottle to induce sound from the bottle. For our experimental setup, such simple resonators were used to probe their sound-generation mechanics. Sound is produced only for certain values of the blowing velocity. Dimensional analysis suggests that these values of velocity scales with the frequency of sound being excited and a characteristic length of the mouth, irrespective of other geometrical details of the resonator. While this scaling theory is applicable to many other related problems like flutter and fluid-structure vibrations, we use the instance of acoustic resonators for verification.

Damping Ratio in Micro-Beam Resonators Based on Magneto-Thermo-Elasticity

This paper investigates damping ratio in micro-beam resonators based on magneto-thermo-elasticity. A unique aspect of the present study is the effect of permanent magnetic field on the stiffness and thermo-elastic damping of the micro resonators. In our modeling the theory of thermo-elasticity with interacting of an externally applied permanent magnetic field is taken into account. Combined the...

Extraction of Nonlinear Thermo-Electroelastic Equations for High Frequency Vibrations of Piezoelectric Resonators with Initial Static Biases

In this paper, the general case of an anisotropic thermo-electro elastic body subjected to static biasing fields is considered. The biasing fields may be introduced by heat flux, body forces, external surface tractions, and electric fields. By introducing proper thermodynamic functions and employing variational principle for a thermo-electro elastic body, the nonlinear constitutive relations an...

Thermoelastic Damping and Frequency Shift in Kirchhoff Plate Resonators Based on Modified Couple Stress Theory With Dual-Phase-Lag Model

The present investigation deals with study of thermoelastic damping and frequency shift of Kirchhoff plate resonators by using generalized thermoelasticity theory of dual-phase-lag model. The basic equations of motion and heat conduction equation are written with the help of Kirchhoff-Love plate theory and dual phase lag model. The analytical expressions for thermoelastic damping and frequency ...

Using a Cascade of Asymmetric Resonators with Fast-Acting Compression as a Cochlear Model for Machine-Hearing Applications

Every day, machines process many thousands of hours of audio signals through a realistic cochlear model. They extract features, inform classifiers and recommenders, and identify copyrighted material. The machine-hearing approach to such tasks has taken root in recent years, because hearingbased approaches perform better than we can do with more conventional sound-analysis approaches. We use a b...

Mathematical Modeling for Thermoelastic Double Porous Micro-Beam Resonators

In the present work, the mathematical model of a homogeneous, isotropic thermoelastic double porous micro-beam, based on the Euler-Bernoulli theory is developed in the context of Lord-Shulman [1] theory of thermoelasticity. Laplace transform technique has been used to obtain the expressions for lateral deflection, axial stress, axial displacement, volume fraction field and temperature distribut...
