چکیده
Clearance forming between rotating shafts and radial lip seals has been investigated both numerically and experimentally at various temperature conditions. Numerical models of clearance forming has been developed taking in account the effect of temperature, defining the material constituting properties according to empiric WLF function. Experiments have been performed with a special apparatus that allows control of lubricant temperature and level at each shaft speed . Results agree with simulations and give useful indications for pratical applications. Dynamic Seals Behaviour under Effect of Radial Vibration
This paper presents the results of experimental and numerical tests on the behaviour of radial lip seals in order to characterize a model of the effects of vibrations and working temperature. Starting validation of the numerical analysis, performed with the Finite Element Method, is obtained measuring the frequency response function (FRF) by using different excitation signals. Seal’s lip displa...
متن کاملRadial Lip Seals Efficiency under Dynamic Operating Conditions
This paper describes experimental and numerical procedures to estimate friction torque on a rotating shaft due to radial elastomeric seals. Two different test rigs have been built, in order to highlight the relationship between the overall friction and the local behaviour of each lip portion in presence of dynamic eccentricities. A direct measurement has been performed with a rotating shaft mac...
متن کاملFlow Seals Parameters Analysis For Rotors
The interaction of work fluid mechanics with that of the rotary system itself, basically composed of axes, bearings and rotors, is performed by inserting equivalent dynamic coefficients in the mathematical model of the rotor, the latter being obtained by the finite element method. In this paper, the dynamic coefficients of inertia, stiffness and damping of the flat seals analyzed here are evalu...
متن کاملSupramolecular motifs in dynamic covalent PEG-hemiaminal organogels
Dynamic covalent materials are stable materials that possess reversible behaviour triggered by stimuli such as light, redox conditions or temperature; whereas supramolecular crosslinks depend on the equilibrium constant and relative concentrations of crosslinks as a function of temperature. The combination of these two reversible chemistries can allow access to materials with unique properties....
متن کاملDistinct element modelling of the mechanical behaviour of intact rocks using voronoi tessellation model
This paper aims to study the mechanical behaviour and failure mechanism of intact rocks under different loading conditions using the grain based model implemented in the universal distinct element code (UDEC). The grain based numerical model is a powerful tool to investigate complicated micro-structural mechanical behaviour of rocks. In the UDEC grain based model, the intact material is simulat...
