چکیده

1,2,3,4-Tetrahydroquinolines exist as key structural elements in many natural products and have found broad commercial application. In particular, optically pure tetrahydroquinolines are commonly present in alkaloids and are required in pharmaceutical and agrochemical synthesis. Representative examples include the bioactive alkaloids (+)-galipinine and ( )-augustureine, and the antibacterial drug (S)-flumequine.

Highly enantioselective transfer hydrogenation of quinolines catalyzed by gold phosphates: achiral ligand tuning and chiral-anion control of stereoselectivity.

A little gold goes a long way: as little as 0.01 mol % of chiral gold phosphate is sufficient to afford the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of quinolines with high stereoselectivity (up to 98 % ee). The achiral ligands on gold were found to have considerable effect on the catalytic efficiency.

Wills) The first report of an asymmetric transfer hydrogenation, in formic acid/triethylamine, of quinolines is described. Using a Ru(II) catalyst containing a 4-carbon tether, products of up to 73% ee were formed, whilst...

Self-Assembly of a Library of Polyborate Chiral Anions for Asymmetric Catalytic Quinoline Reduction.

The 'template' polyborate BOROX catalysts are shown to mediate the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of 2-quinolines. The rapid and simple generation of a large family of BOROX catalysts with significantly altered asymmetric pockets is described. A transition state model that explains the enantioselectivity is proposed.

Chiral phosphoric acid catalyzed asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of quinolines in a sustainable solvent

The use of diethyl carbonate as a sustainable solvent for organocatalytic asymmetric transfer hydrogenations of 2-substituted quinolines using highly efficient chiral phosphoric acid catalysts with Hantzsch esters as a hydrogen source is reported for the first time. The asymmetric transfer hydrogenation reaction in diethyl carbonate provides enantiomerically pure 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolines wi...

Direct enantioselective access to 4-substituted tetrahydroquinolines by catalytic asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of quinolines.

A convenient protocol for the enantioselective synthesis of 4-substituted tetrahydroquinolines has been developed. Chiral BINOL phosphoric acids promote the reduction of a wide range of 4-substituted quinolines with Hantzsch esters with good to high levels of enantioselectivity.
