چکیده

In this work, we present a handle-based direct manipulation paradigm that builds upon a pseudo-skeleton with bones that are allowed to stretch and twist. Solving for the unknown positions of the joints in an as-rigidas-possible manner decouples the optimization problem from the geometric complexity of the input model allowing for real-time edits even for high-quality datasets. The degrees of freedom can be manually adapted to the user’s needs giving the freedom to implicitly specify the regions the deformation takes place.

Robust mesh editing using Laplacian coordinates

Shape deformation and editing are important for animation and game design. Laplacian surface basedmethods have beenwidely investigated and used inmanyworks. In this paperwe propose a robustmesh editing frameworkwhich improves traditional Laplacian surface editing. It consists of two procedures: skeleton based as-rigid-as-possible (ARAP) shape modeling and detail-preservingmesh optimization. Tra...

Skeleton Based As-Rigid-As-Possible Volume Modeling

Shape deformation and editing are important for animation and game design. Based on as-rigid-aspossible (ARAP) surface modeling, an efficient approach is proposed to approximately preserve the volume of an object with large-scale deformations. The classical ARAP surface modeling uses twostage iterations to recover rotations and preserve edge lengths. However, there is no volume preserving const...

Tetrisation of triangular meshes and its application in shape blending

The As-Rigid-As-Possible (ARAP) shape deformation framework is a versatile technique for morphing, surface modelling, and mesh editing. We discuss an improvement of the ARAP framework in a few aspects: 1. Given a triangular mesh in 3D space, we introduce a method to associate a tetrahedral structure, which encodes the geometry of the original mesh. 2. We use a Lie algebra based method to interp...

Skeleton-based Variational Mesh Deformations

In this paper, a new free-form shape deformation approach is proposed. We combine a skeleton-based mesh deformation technique with discrete differential coordinates in order to create natural-looking global shape deformations. Given a triangle mesh, we first extract a skeletal mesh, a two-sided Voronoi-based approximation of the medial axis. Next the skeletal mesh is modified by free-form defor...

Shape Aware Deformation Using a Skeleton-Guided Scheme

This work presents a method for deforming meshes in a shape-sensible way using Moving Least Squares (MLS) optimization. This work explains how an approach for deforming space [10] can be transformed into a skeleton-guided deformation scheme, where more sensitivity to the mesh geometry is achieved. Given a mesh and its skeleton, for each joint a minimization problem is solved subject to position...
