Spline Curve Matching with Sparse Knot Sets: Applications to Deformable Shape Detection and Recognition

چکیده
Splines can be used to approximate noisy data with a few control points. This paper presents a new curve matching method for deformable shapes using two-dimensional splines. In contrast to the residual error criterion [7], which is based on relative locations of corresponding knot points such that is reliable primarily for dense point sets, we use deformation energy of thin-plate-spline mapping between sparse knot points and normalized local curvature information. This method has been tested successfully for the detection and recognition of

متن کاملEdge-Based Template Matching with a Harmonic Deformation Model
The paper presents an approach to the detection of deformable objects in single images. To this end we propose a robust match metric that preserves the relative edge point neighborhood, but allows significant shape changes. Similar metrics have been used for the detection of rigid objects. To the best of our knowledge this adaptation to deformable objects is new. In addition, we present a fast ...

The paper presents an approach to the detection of deformable objects in single images. To this end we propose a robust match metric that preserves the relative edge point neighborhood, but allows significant shape changes. Similar metrics have been used for the detection of rigid objects (Olson and Huttenlocher, 1997; Steger, 2002). To the best of our knowledge this adaptation to deformable ob...
متن کاملA Relationship between Spline-Based Deformable Models and Weighted Graphs in Non-Rigid Matching
Deformable models are central to non-rigid motion analysis, shape matching and non-rigid medical image registration. Spline-based deformations are a very popular class of parameterizations of deformable models and have been heavily used in multiple domains. In a somewhat separate sub-field, weighted graphs are a frequently used object parameterization. Graph matching using weighted graph object...
متن کاملKnot calculation for spline fitting via sparse optimization
Curve fitting with splines is a fundamental problem in computer-aided design and engineering. However, how to choose the number of knots and how to place the knots in spline fitting remain a difficult issue. This paper presents a framework for computing knots (including the number and positions) in curve fitting based on a sparse optimizationmodel. The framework consists of two steps: first, fr...
