چکیده

Uveitis occurs among children suffering from juvenile chronic arthropathy (mainly in daughters presenting with the pauciarticular form and accompanied by antinuclear antibodies) and among adults in the group of seronegative spondylarthropathies, among which ankylosing spondylitis and Reiter's syndrome are the most representative diseases. The association between acute anterior uveitis, HLA B27 antigen and seronegative spondylarthropathies is discussed.

Identification of antihistone antibodies in subsets of juvenile chronic arthritis.

Antihistone antibodies (AHAs) as measured by an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) were detected in the sera of 58 (48%) of 121 unselected patients with juvenile chronic arthritis (JCA). AHAs were found in 28 (93%) of 30 patients with JCA with uveitis but in only 30 (33%) of 91 patients with JCA without uveitis. AHA positivity was unrelated to the type of joint involvement, disease activ...

Biological agents in the treatment of uveitis

Inflammatory uveitis is a difficult condition to treat. Recently, a new class of drugs obtained by a biological process and therefore defined as “biologics” has been successfully used in the treatment of immunemediated rheumatic diseases. These drugs target different pro-inflammatory cytokines including tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin-1 and interleukin-6, or immune effector cells including...
