چکیده

Introduction In whole body MRI with continuously moving table (CMT-MRI) the acquisition time is an important issue. In particular for examinations performed during breath holding, the number of required breath holding phases should be small and the duration of each breath holding phase as short as possible. In the 2D multi-slice approach to CMT-MRI investigated here, parallel imaging with no higher reduction factors than R = 2 is feasible to speedup the acquisition due to the used coils and the acquisition scheme. In this study the recently introduced z-GRAPPA method [1] is applied to accelerate CMT-MRI. In contrast to the conventional GRAPPA algorithm [2], this method avoids the acquisition of additional data for calibration, but combines k-space lines from adjacent slices for coil weight computation. For a clinically relevant protocol, the duration of one breath holding phase could be reduced by 18 %.

Helical MR: continuously moving table axial imaging with radial acquisitions.

A technique for extended field of view MRI is presented. Similar to helical computed tomography, the method utilizes a continuously moving patient table, a 2D axial slice that remains fixed relative to the MRI magnet, and a radial k-space trajectory. A fully refocused SSFP acquisition enables spatial resolution comparable to current clinical protocols in scan times that are sufficiently short t...

Peripheral arterial imaging with a Continuously Moving Table Time-of-Flight View-Sharing technique

Introduction Time-of-Flight MR Angiography (TOF MRA) is a commonly used non contrast enhanced technique for vessel visualization. To extend the spatial coverage of TOF arteriography, this study addresses the combination of axial 2D TOF imaging and Continuously Moving Table (CMT) acquisitions for imaging the peripheral arteries. Since arterial blood flow is highly pulsatile in the periphery, inf...

Accelerated free breathing MRI with continously moving table using compressed sensing

Introduction In MRI with continuously moving table (CMT) breathing motion is an important issue. Recently motion compensation techniques for CMT-MRI during free breathing have been introduced [1, 2]. They apply parallel imaging to reconstruct multiple snapshots of the breathing motion from a fully sampled k-space and combine these snapshots subsequently. In this study the compressed sensing (CS...

Staging of Ovarian Cancer with Continuously Moving Table Mr Acquisitions: a Comparison to Computed Tomography

INTRODUCTION One in 70 women in the Western World will develop ovarian cancer (lifetime risk 1.4%). In Europe, it is estimated that 61,000 cases are diagnosed, and 39,000 deaths from ovarian cancer occur annually. More than 70% of patients with ovarian cancer are diagnosed in an advanced tumor stage. The tumor stage at the time of diagnosis is generally considered as the most important prognost...

Wideband MRI: A New Dimension of MR Image Acceleration

We propose a new paradigm of MRI acceleration using the frequency multiplexing technique in modern communication technology; we name it “Wideband MRI”. A major component of wideband MRI is frequency multiplexing of MR signals. Using simultaneous multi-slice RF excitation pulses centered at different frequencies followed by simultaneous multi-slice acquisition during readout, the total scan time...
