The programme is almost exclusively focused on reactive liquid absorption liquids for the capture of CO2 . An overview is given in Figure 3. In addition to the usual challenge of cost-reduction of the capture process, the challenges for PCC in Australia are also the quality of flue gases, which necessitates extensive pre-treatment and the lack of sufficient cooling water. A typical flow sheet of an integrated PCC process is shown in figure 1.

Carbon Dioxide Post-Combustion Capture: Solvent Technologies Overview, Status and Future Directions
One of the most promising approaches to tackle the high emission rate of carbon dioxide is the use of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology. This technology aims at capturing carbon dioxide from power stations and other industrial facilities, compressing, and then transporting it to underground storage locations. Three technological routes for carbon capture from power plants exist: pre-c...
متن کاملCarbon Capture: A Technology Assessment
Carbon capture and sequestration (or carbon capture and storage, CCS) is widely seen as a critical strategy for limiting atmospheric emissions of carbon dioxide (CO 2)—the principal " greenhouse gas " linked to global climate change—from power plants and other large industrial sources. This report focuses on the first component of a CCS system, the CO 2 capture process. Unlike the other two com...
متن کاملCarbon Dioxide Capture and Storage: A General Review on Adsorbents
CO2 is the primary anthropogenic greenhouse gas, accounting for 77% of the human contribution to the greenhouse effect in 2004. In the recent years, global concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere is increasing rapidly. CO2 emissions have an impact on global climate change. Anthropogenic CO2 is emitted primarily from fossil fuel combustion. Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is one option for reduc...
متن کاملMembrane-Cryogenic Post-Combustion Carbon Capture of Flue Gases from NGCC
Membrane gas separation for carbon capture has traditionally been focused on high pressure applications, such as pre-combustion capture and natural gas sweetening. Recently a membrane-cryogenic combined process has been shown to be cost competitive for post-combustion capture from coal fired power stations. Here, the membrane-cryogenic combined process is investigated for application to post-co...
متن کاملFlue gas treatment for CO2 capture
This report is in two sections: the first describes the flue gas and its treatment in post-combustion capture and the second covers the flue gas in oxyfuel combustion capture. The main components of the flue gas in pulverised coal combustion for postcombustion capture are CO2, N2, O2 and H2O, and air pollutants such as SOx, NOx, particulates, HCl, HF, mercury as well as other contaminants. The ...
