Chapter 10 CONDITIONAL PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

چکیده

Measures for evaluating the performance of a mutual fund or other managed portfolio are interpreted as the difference between the average return of the fund and that of an appropriate benchmark portfolio. Traditional measures use a fixed benchmark to match the average risk of the fund. Conditional performance measures use a dynamic strategy as the benchmark, matching the fund’s risk dynamics. The logic of this approach is explained, the models are described and the empirical evidence is

Evaluation of Model-Based Methods in Estimating Dynamic Functional Connectivity of Brain Regions

Today, neuroscientists are interested in discovering human brain functions through brain networks. In this regard, the evaluation of dynamic changes in functional connectivity of the brain regions by using functional magnetic resonance imaging data has attracted their attention. In this paper, we focus on two model-based approaches, called the exponential weighted moving average model and the d...

Robust Portfolio Optimization with risk measure CVAR under MGH distribution in DEA models

Financial returns exhibit stylized facts such as leptokurtosis, skewness and heavy-tailness. Regarding this behavior, in this paper, we apply multivariate generalized hyperbolic (mGH) distribution for portfolio modeling and performance evaluation, using conditional value at risk (CVaR) as a risk measure and allocating best weights for portfolio selection. Moreover, a robust portfolio optimizati...

Conditional Random Fields for Airborne Lidar Point Cloud Classification in Urban Area

Over the past decades, urban growth has been known as a worldwide phenomenon that includes widening process and expanding pattern. While the cities are changing rapidly, their quantitative analysis as well as decision making in urban planning can benefit from two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) digital models. The recent developments in imaging and non-imaging sensor technologies, s...

Performance Evaluation of Image Fusion Methods

The recent advances in sensor technology, microelectronics and multisensor systems have motivated researchers towards processing techniques that combine the information obtained from different sensors. For this purpose a large number of image fusion techniques [Mukhopadhyay & Chanda, 2001; Pohl & van Genderen, 1998, Tsagaris & Anastassopoulos, 2005; Piella, 2003] have been proposed in the field...
