Toward Integration WS-Nonexistent Standards

چکیده
Beginning with SOAP, Web Services (WS) have now been around for about five years. They have reached the point where mainstream customers are beginning to use them or at least seriously consider doing so. Based on my own experience, most successful WS applications reside inside the enterprise, where they help integrate disparate systems. Typically, these integrations are based on fairly simple uses of SOAP and Web Services Description Language (WSDL), with homegrown security also present in some cases. What hasn’t occurred in that same timeframe is significant WS standardization. The numerous WS specifications introduced by various parties over the past few years, which I’ll discuss in more detail later, show that there’s a clear desire to fill out the WS architecture stack. Unfortunately, converting those specifications into actual industry standards is elusive. Although polls and surveys seem to indicate that companies are poised to spend more on WS development in 2005, the lack of actual WS standardization could hurt the industry.

Web services (WS) is emerging as the technology for integrating loosely couples applications employing three main protocols: WSDL (describing the WS), UDDI (publishing the WS), and SOAP (accessing the WS) using XML. WS could also be composed together to meet certain business requirements. Strategies for implementing WS include open source, such as XML and Java and product-based, such as Microso...

Portals went through the following different life cycle stages: desktop organization and personalization; single intranet-based portals such as human resource and Internet product-based or industry-based portals; functional-based portals such as knowledge management and business intelligence; and integrated intranet-based enterprise portal (EP) covering some or all functions of the enterprise (...
متن کاملTowards a Process for Web Services Security
Web Services (WS) security has undergone an enormous development, as carried out by the major organizations and consortiums of the industry over the last few years. This has brought about the appearance of a huge number of WS security standards. Such a fact has made organizations remain reticent about adopting technologies based on this paradigm, due to the learning curve which is inevitable in...

Web Services (WS) are an important tool for the integration of enterprise applications. With a growing set of WS related standards (WS-*), the technology has become increasingly more complicated to configure and manage, even more so when the Quality of Service (QoS) requirements of the system are changing. This paper presents the results of a study conducted on the ability of the major Web Serv...
