An ODP approach to the development of large middleware systems

چکیده
Since the Reference Model for Open Distributed Processing was completed, work in ISO in this area has concentrated on the definition of a number of supporting standards to add detail to the basic framework. Taken together, these provide a powerful structure for the support of large federated systems and provide a basis for the enhancement of tools for the development and maintenance of large middleware systems. This paper describes the main features of the new work and speculates on how it can be applied to augment the tools used to design and manage such systems, and, by so doing, can increase their flexibility.

Access control in ultra-large-scale systems using a data-centric middleware
The primary characteristic of an Ultra-Large-Scale (ULS) system is ultra-large size on any related dimension. A ULS system is generally considered as a system-of-systems with heterogeneous nodes and autonomous domains. As the size of a system-of-systems grows, and interoperability demand between sub-systems is increased, achieving more scalable and dynamic access control system becomes an im...
متن کاملA Specification for an Object-Oriented Distributed Banking System
This paper proposes a partial specification for a distributed banking system. The system has been designed to operate in an object-oriented middleware platform, such as the CORBA platform from the Object Management Group or the COM platform from Microsoft. The purpose of the paper is to illustrate how existing middleware architectures can be used for implementing systems that have traditionally...
متن کاملMultiware Platform: Some Issues about the Middleware Layer
This paper presents the conceptual and implementation models to the Middleware Layer of the Multiware Platform that is under development at UNICAMP-University of Campinas, Brazil. This platform combines ideas from both the RM-ODP (Reference Model for Open Distributed Processing) and existent products, like ANSAware and CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture). The platform ooers functi...
متن کاملCORBA and RM-ODP: parallel or divergent?
Modern architectures for distributed object environments (or distributed ‘middleware’) are revealing an increasing trend towards standardisation. The recent emergence of a standard for open distributed processing, the ISO / IEC Reference Model for Open Distributed Processing (RM-ODP) [3] and the coincidence of the development of the Object Management Group’s, Common Object Request Broker Archit...
متن کاملChallenges for ODP-based infrastructure for managing dynamic B2B networks
The availability of open networks and the rise of serviceoriented architectures have created an environment where collaboration between enterprise ICT systems becomes technically plausible. The current challenges for collaboration management focus on ensuring the semantics and pragmatics of collaborations. It is especially interesting to capture the inter-enterprise business processes in such a...
