Producing Keratin Hydrolysates from Sheep Wool
نویسنده
چکیده
Manuscript describes producing keratin hydrolysate from sheep wool through two-stage technology whose principle consists in first having wool processed in an alkaline environment during the first stage, and then effecting hydrolysis in the second stage through the action of proteolytic enzyme. Experiments were planned in accordance with factor schemes of 23 types in which factors under study were influence of first stage hydrolysis duration (6-24 hours), duration of hydrolysis second stage (6-24 hours) and quantity of added proteolytic enzyme (1-5 %) on quantity of decomposed wool.

Feather keratin hydrolysates obtained from microbial keratinases: effect on hair fiber
BACKGROUND Hair is composed mainly of keratin protein and a small amount of lipid. Protein hydrolysates, in particular those with low molecular weight distribution have been known to protect hair against chemical and environmental damage. Many types of protein hydrolysates from plants and animals have been used in hair and personal care such as keratin hydrolysates obtained from nails, horns an...
متن کاملProvenancing Archaeological Wool Textiles from Medieval Northern Europe by Light Stable Isotope Analysis (δ13C, δ15N, δ2H)
We investigate the origin of archaeological wool textiles preserved by anoxic waterlogging from seven medieval archaeological deposits in north-western Europe (c. 700-1600 AD), using geospatial patterning in carbon (δ13C), nitrogen (δ15N) and non-exchangeable hydrogen (δ2H) composition of modern and ancient sheep proteins. δ13C, δ15N and δ2H values from archaeological wool keratin (n = 83) and ...
متن کاملIncorporation of [Me-3H]methionine into wool follicle proteins: a biochemical and ultrastructural study.
The formation of the 'low-sulphur' group of proteins which constitutes more than half the cortical cell content of wool was investigated. Of the amino acids present in the lowand highsulphur proteins isolated from wool, methionine is the only one which is exclusive to the low-S group. The incorporation of [Me-'H]methionine, administered intradermally to a sheep, was examined using both biochemi...
متن کاملIdentification of the Ovine Keratin-Associated Protein 22-1 (KAP22-1) Gene and Its Effect on Wool Traits
Keratin-associated proteins (KAPs) are structural components of wool and hair fibers. To date, eight high glycine/tyrosine KAP (HGT-KAP) families have been identified in humans, but only three have been identified in sheep. In this study, the putative ovine homolog of the human KAP22-1 gene (KRTAP22-1) was amplified using primers designed based on a human KRTAP22-1 sequence. Polymerase chain re...
متن کاملWool Keratin-Associated Protein Genes in Sheep—A Review
The importance of sheep's wool in making textiles has inspired extensive research into its structure and the underlying genetics since the 1960s. Wool keratin-associated proteins (KAPs) are a key structural component of the wool fibre. The characterisation of the genes encoding these proteins has progressed rapidly with advances in the nucleotide and protein sequencing. This review describes ou...
