On Lachlan's major sub-degree problem

چکیده
The Major Subdegree Problem of A. H. Lachlan (first posed in 1967) has become the longest-standing open question concerning the structure of the computably enumerable (c.e.) degrees. A c.e. degree a is a major subdegree of a c.e. degree b > a if for any c.e. degree x, 0′ = b ∨ x if and only if 0′ = a ∨ x. In this paper, we show that every c.e. degree b 6= 0 or 0′ has a major subdegree, answering Lachlan’s question affirmatively.

A Decidable Fragment of the Elementary Theory of the Lattice of Recursively Enumerable Sets
A natural class of sentences about the lattice of recursively enumerable sets modulo finite sets is shown to be decidable. This class properly contains the class of sentences previously shown to be decidable by Lachlan. New structure results about the lattice of recursively enumerable sets are proved which play an important role in the decision procedure. 0. Introduction. Much of the recent wor...
متن کاملOn a Theorem of Lachlan and Martin
In [3] we raised the following question: does there exist a recursively enumerable degree d such that 0(n)<d(n)<0(n+1) for all wjSO? This question was answered affirmatively by Lachlan [l] and by Martin [2]. Lachlan's proof combines a familiar priority argument with the fixed point theorem of Kleene. Martin's proof is a new form of priority argument based on Theorem 3 of section 6 of [3]. In th...
متن کاملOn The Fractional Minimal Cost Flow Problem of a Belief Degree Based Uncertain Network
A fractional minimal cost flow problem under linear type belief degree based uncertainty is studied for the first time. This type of uncertainty is useful when no historical information of an uncertain event is available. The problem is crisped using an uncertain chance-constrained programming approach and its non-linear objective function is linearized by a variable changing approach. An illus...
متن کاملSupply chain network design with multi- mode demand based on acceptance degree of fuzzy constraints violated
This paper designs a mathematical model for supply chain network design problem including plants, distributors and customers in fuzzy environment. Each plant and distributor has several levels capacities. A multi-mode demand strategy is considered for the customers where only one of the modes is to be selected for each customer. Considering the acceptance degree of fuzzy constraints violated, a...
متن کاملSome Results on Forgotten Topological Coindex
The forgotten topological coindex (also called Lanzhou index) is defined for a simple connected graph G as the sum of the terms du2+dv2 over all non-adjacent vertex pairs uv of G, where du denotes the degree of the vertex u in G. In this paper, we present some inequalit...
