Studies on PCR-Based Rapid Detection Systems for Salmonella spp

چکیده
1.1 Using molecular biological methods to identified Salmonella spp. As the industrialization had made food supply to exceed demand, more and more consumers were interested in ‘Delicious food’ than ‘Good quality food’ today and they ask for not only taste but also safety. Microbiological safety is one of the most critical factors for ensuring safe food supply. Fig 1. is a flow chart of traditional detection procedure for Salmonella spp., showing that it takes about one week. Therefore, a rapid screening method using PCR is the basis of most molecular diagnostic laboratories. As the field of molecular pathology becomes more accessible to practicing pathologists, a working knowledge of PCR techniques is necessary related to biological safety of food is very essential in food industry. Salmonella spp. are an important cause of food-borne infections throughout the world, and the availability of rapid and simple detection techniques is critical for the food industry.

Selective Amplification of prt, tyv and invA Genes by Multiplex PCR for Rapid Detection of Salmonella typhi
A multiplex PCR-based assay was developed for detection of Salmonella typhi and identification of other salmonella serotypes. Three primer-sets were selected from different genomic sequences, malo2-F/malo2-Ra primers from invasion gene, Parat-s/Parat-as as well as tyv-s/tyv-as primers from O-antigen gene cluster of the genus Salmonella. This method differentiated Salmonella spp., based on size ...

OBJECTIVES Gastrointestinal tract infection is still one of the serious public health problems in many geographic areas and is endemic in most countries including Iran. Early detection of the gastrointestinal tract pathogens can be extremely important. The aim of the current study was to apply a shortened time-multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for rapid and simultaneous detection of Sal...

Abstract Background and Objectives: Chromogenic media are the newest methods applied for rapid detection of pathogenic microorganisms in drinking water and food from 1998-2008. These Specific media contained the compounds acting as a substrate for microbial enzymes and, according to the type of enzyme, produce specific color. The aim of this study was to introduce the chromogenic media as a pow...
متن کاملIdentification of Salmonella spp. and Salmonella typhimurium by a multiplex PCR-based assay from poultry carcasses in Mashhad- Iran
Poultry meat has been identified as one of the principal foodborne sources of Salmonella. In this preliminary study the prevalence of Salmonella spp. and its typhimurium serovar contamination of broiler carcasses, were determined. Using the rinse test method, numbers of 60 samples, representing 20 broiler flocks, were collected from poultry carcasses after the chilling stage in the processing l...

A total of 60 neck skin swab samples were taken from 12 different broiler flocks after the chilling stage of processing at a commercial broiler slughtering facility in Mashhad. The presence of Salmonella was assessed by conventional culture method and confirmed by using poly O and poly H antiserum in serotyping. PCR amplification of invA gene as a specific method for detection of Salmonella w...
