Radiometric Issues in Adaptive Polarimetric Sar Tomography

چکیده
Multibaseline (MB) SAR tomography (Tomo-SAR) is an advanced mode of SAR interferometry, allowing full 3D imaging of volumetric and layover scatterers along the azimuth, range and height dimensions. Recently, this technique has also been extended in a polarimetric sense (PolTomo-SAR), exploiting MB SAR data acquired with different polarization channels. In this way, the joint estimation is possible of the height of the multiple scatterers and a set of complex coefficients describing their polarimetric scattering mechanism. In this work, a possible remedy is proposed to mitigate relative channel unbalances which affect the polarimetric version of super-resolution adaptive tomography. Finally, adaptive PolTomo-SAR radiometric analysis results are reported of MB airborne polarimetric P-band SAR data, acquired over a forest site.

A new SAR radiometric terrain correction method was proposed to reduce the terrain effects in sloped regions. Based on this method, a procedure for polarimetric SAR terrain effect reduction was proposed, including geometric correction, shadow detection, radiometric terrain correction, and polarization orientation angle shift compensation. Experiments using RADARSAT-2 polarimetric SAR data of th...

New opportunities are arising in the synthetic aperture radar (SAR) observation of forest scenarios, especially with decimetric and metric radio wavelengths, which possess the capability of penetrating into volumes. Given its capabilities in the three-dimensional imaging of the scattering properties of the observed scene, SAR Tomography (Tomo-SAR) constitutes a good candidate for the analysis o...
متن کاملClassification of urban SAR imagery using object oriented techniques
This paper describes the development of techniques for the production of urban mapping data from interferometric polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data. The information contained in the radar data originates from four types of data properties: • Radiometric, i.e. the channel intensities • Polarimetric, e.g. decomposition properties entropy and alpha • Interferometric, e.g. coherence a...

This paper presents a method to map the large grassland in the eastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau with the high resolution polarimetric SAR (PolSAR) imagery. When PolSAR imagery is used for land cover classification, the brightness of a SAR image is affected by topography due to varying projection between ground and image coordinates. The objective of this paper is twofold: (1) we first exte...
