Velocity-Encoded Phase-Contrast Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Diagnosing Severe Bilateral Subclavian Steal Syndrome with Complete Vertebral Reversal.

UNLABELLED Subclavian steal syndrome (SSS) involves changes in hemodynamics secondary to proximal subclavian artery stenosis and/or occlusion where the subclavian artery "drains" the blood from the vertebral artery. It sometimes induces neuromuscular symptoms, especially in cases with bilateral involvement. We report the case of a 65-year-old symptomatic male with severe bilateral SSS with comp...

Coronary Subclavian Steal Syndrome Evaluated with Multimodality Imaging.

In patients with mammary-coronary bypass grafts, the presence of a subclavian artery stenosis proximal to the internal mammary artery may result in a condition termed coronary-subclavian steal syndrome of which the incidence varies between 0.07-3.4% among those requiring coronary grafts. We reported a patient with a history of the coronary artery bypass graft who presented with typical angina p...

The presence of an asymptomatic aberrant right subclavian artery: A potential risk factor in esophageal surgery?

Bleeding of an aberrant right subclavian artery following transthoracic en bloc esophagectomy and intrathoracic gastric reconstruction is a rare but severe complication in esophageal surgery. Preoperative diagnosis can be achieved by computed tomography or magnetic resonance angiography (MRA). Various treatment options are available; thus, the treatment can be challenging and should be adjusted...

Diagnosis of Subclavian Steal Syndrome using a Novel Time-Resolved Magnetic Resonance Angiographic Technique

Introduction: The term Subclavian steal refers to reversal of normal direction of flow in the vertebral artery ipsilateral to severe stenosis/occlusion occurring between aortic arch and vertebral artery origin. The diagnosis of subclavian steal syndrome can be suggested by many techniques which include invasive angiography, noninvasive continuous wave Doppler ultrasonography of neck, multi-slic...

Subclavian fusiform aneurysm causing partial subclavian steal syndrome. Case report.

We present a 55-year-old man with repeated transient symptoms of vertebrobasilar arterial pathology. Physical examination detected no signs that would indicate the stenosis of the proximal subclavian artery segment. Ultrasound detected hemodynamic disorder of right vertebral artery, which correspond to a partial subclavian steal syndrome. Angiography shows fusiform aneurysm of ipsilateral subcl...
