چکیده

Ultra-wideband (UWB) impulse radio (IR) systems are well known for low transmission power, low probability of detection, and overlaying with narrowband (NB) systems. These merits in fact make UWB signal detection challenging, since several high-power wireless communication systems coexist with UWB signals. In the literature, cyclic features are exploited for signal detection. However, the high computational complexity of conventional cyclic feature based detectors burdens the receivers. In this paper, we propose computationally efficient detectors using the specific cyclic features of UWB signals. The closedform relationships between the cyclic features and the system parameters are revealed. Then, some constant false alarm rate detectors are proposed based on the estimated cyclic autocorrelation functions (CAFs). The proposed detectors have low complexities compared to the existing ones. Extensive simulation results indicate that the proposed detectors achieve a good balance between the detection performance and the computational complexity in various scenarios, such as multipath environments, colored noise, and NB interferences.

A Miniaturized CPW-Fed Tapered Slot Antenna in Lossy Environment for UWB Application in Breast Cancer Detection

In this paper, a miniaturized coplanar waveguide fed (CPW-fed) tapered slot antenna (TSA) is introduced for breast cancer detection. Here, a modified CPW to slot-line transition structure with an air-bridge is employed to broaden the transition bandwidth and increase the radiation efficiency. Through these applied modifications, negative features of the original TSA (limitation of transition) a...

Impulse Radio UWB Signal Detection Based on Compressed Sensing

The extremely high sampling rate is a challenge for ultra-wideband (UWB) communication. In this paper, we study the compressed sensing (CS) based impulse radio UWB (IR-UWB) signal detection and propose an IR-UWB signal detection algorithm based on compressive sampling matching pursuit (CoSaMP). The proposed algorithm relies on the fact that UWB received signal is sparse in the time domain. The ...

A Compressive Sensing Signal Detection for Uwb Radar

A major challenge in UWB signal processing is the requirement for very high sampling rate under Shannon-Nyquist sampling theorem which exceeds the current ADC capacity. Radar signal is essentially a delayed and scaled version of the transmitted pulse, determined by sparse parameters such as time delays and amplitudes. A system for sampling UWB radar signal at an ultralow sampling rate based on ...

Modified MSSNR Based Channel Shortening for UWB Receiver Design Simplification

Ultra wide band (UWB) propagation channels are highly rich in multipaths. A major problem encountered in UWB systems is to capture enough multipaths to maintain a sufficient signal to noise ratio (SNR) for further signal processing. This leads to a RAKE receiver with large number of fingers. Channel shortening can help in simplifying the RAKE receiver architecture by reducing the channel taps. ...
