چکیده

We report a force field (FF) suitable for molecular dynamics simulations of polysilane polymers. This FF, denoted MSXX, was developed using the Hessian biased method to describe accurately the vibrational states, the a b initio torsional potential energy surface, and the ab initio electrostatic charges of polysilane oligomers. This MSXX FF was used to calculate various spectroscopic and mechanical properties of the polysilane crystal. Stress-strain curves and surface energies are reported. Gibbs molecular dynamics calculations (Nosb, Rahman-Parrinello) were used to predict various materials properties at higher temperatures. Phonon dispersion curves and elastic constants were calculated at various temperatures. Although this polymer is of increasing industrial interest, we could find no experimental data with which to compare these predictions.

Influence of Dipolar Additives on Polaron Binding Energy in Polysilane Composites

Amorphous silicon is a good semiconductive material for many applications. It is a member of the large class of silicon compounds which comprise silicon clusters, silane oligomers, poly(siloxanes), and poly(silanes). The last mentioned polymers are of considerable interest because of their unusual electrical and photoelectrical properties. It has been shown that in these polymers the effect of ...

Exact Analytical Solution for Electrostatic Field Produced by Biased Atomic Force Microscope Tip Dwelling above Dielectric-conductor Bi-layer

Atomic Force Microscopy is an important tool for nanoscale modifications in metals, semiconductors, and soft condensed matter. Polymers suggest clear advantage with respect to the other materials in such fields as data storage and sacrificial patterning. Recently, an electrostatic nanolithography based on AFM [1,2] suggested a way of patterning nanostructures in thin (10-50 nm) dielectric films...

Anharmonicity contributions to the vibrational second hyperpolarizability of conjugated oligomers

Restricted Hartree–Fock 6-31G calculations of electrical and mechanical anharmonicity contributions to the longitudinal vibrational second hyperpolarizability have been carried out for eight homologous series of conjugated oligomers—polyacetylene, polyyne, polydiacetylene, polybutatriene, polycumulene, polysilane, polymethineimine, and polypyrrole. To draw conclusions about the limiting infinit...

Molecular size and solubility conditions of polysilane macromolecules with different topology

Solubility of polysilane macromolecules has so far been a scientific as well as technological problem due to a lack of understanding of their proper molecular size and agglomeration/de-agglomeration conditions. Here we show that, in contrary to previous reports, the polysilane molecules are inherently small enough to be, under right conditions, dissolved. We used a dynamic light scattering and ...

Verification of generalized Kramers-Krönig relations and sum rules on experimental data of third harmonic generation susceptibility on polymers

We present the first analysis of harmonic generation data where the full potential of the generalized nonlinear Kramers-Krönig (KK) relations and sum rules is exploited. We consider two published sets of wide spectral range experimental data of third harmonic generation susceptibility on different polymers, the polysilane (frequency
