چکیده

In this work was investigated the feasibility to use Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) glasses in construction sector as secondary raw material. WEEE glasses were used in different percentages as a function of the product obtained: 30-40wt% for glaze formulations, about 40wt% for glass-ceramics and 5wt% in brick bodies. The laboratory and industrial scale up results demonstrated that it is possible to produce a glazed tile with a glaze containing fluorescent lamps glass instead of commercial ceramic frits. Glass-ceramics composed by nepheline ((Na,K)AlSiO4), akermanite (Ca2Mg(Si2O7)) and celsian (BaAl2Si2O8) were obtained at low temperature and short time (T = 900°C and t = 60 min) with panel glass as component. Besides, small amounts of panel glass were added in brick bodies because this glass is suitable as fluxing agent only at high temperatures; at brick manufacturing temperatures (around 1000°C), the glass viscosity does not enough contribute to the sintering process.

Recycling of Printed Circuit Boards

Printed circuit boards (PCBs) can be found in any piece of electrical or electronic equipment: nearly all electronic items, including calculators and remote control units, contain large circuit boards; an increasing number of white goods, as washing machines contains circuit boards for example in electronic timers. PCBs contain metals, polymers, ceramics and are manufactured by sophisticated te...

Recycling of EOL CRT Glass into Ceramic Glaze Formulations and Its Environmental Impact by LCA Approach

Background, Aims and Scope. The interest in recycling materials at the end of their life is growing in the industry in general. As regards the Wastes of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), an appreciable increase of these materials has been noticed in the last decades, 117 . 103 tons of WEEE have been produced in Italy in 2002 according to Ecohitech [1] and the increase in this kind of ...

An Experimental Study of Alkali-surfactant-polymer Flooding through Glass Micromodels Including Dead-end Pores

Chemical flooding, especially alkaline/surfactant/polymer flooding, is of increasing interest due to the world increasing oil demand. This work shows the aspects of using alkaline/surfactant/polymer as an enhanced oil recovery method in the porous media having a high dead-end pore frequency with various dead-end pore parameters (such as opening, depth, aspect ratio, and orientation). Using glas...

Producer responsibility, waste minimisation and the WEEE Directive: case studies in eco-design from the European lighting sector.

The EU Directive on Waste Electrical and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) (2002/96/EC), to be implemented in stages from August 2004, attempts to tackle the growing quantity WEEE by making producers responsible for the costs of the collection and recycling of their products at the end of usable life. This is considered to give producers a financial incentive to reduce waste at source through eco-des...

Characterization of Fine Metal Particles Derived from Shredded WEEE Using a Hyperspectral Image System: Preliminary Results

Waste of electric and electronic equipment (WEEE) is the fastest-growing waste stream in Europe. The large amount of electric and electronic products introduced every year in the market makes WEEE disposal a relevant problem. On the other hand, the high abundance of key metals included in WEEE has increased the industrial interest in WEEE recycling. However, the high variability of materials us...
