Global Price Updates Help

چکیده
Periodic global updates of dual variables have been shown to yield a substantial speed advantage in implementations of push-relabel algorithms for the maximum flow and minimum cost flow problems. In this paper, we show that in the context of the bipartite matching and assignment problems, global updates yield a theoretical improvement as well. For bipartite matching, a pushrelabel algorithm that uses global updates runs in O (√ nm log(n/m) logn ) time (matching the best bound known) and performs worse by a factor of √ n without the updates. A similar result holds for the assignment problem, for which an algorithm that assumes integer costs in the range [−C, . . . , C ] and that runs in time O( √ nm log(nC)) (matching the best cost-scaling bound known) is presented.

Incremental Dynamic Updates with First-Class Contexts
Highly available software systems occasionally need to be updated while avoiding downtime. Dynamic software updates reduce downtime, but still require the system to reach a quiescent state in which a global update can be performed. This can be difficult for multi-threaded systems. We present a novel approach to dynamic updates using firstclass contexts, called Theseus. First-class contexts make...
متن کاملThe Law of One Price and the Cointegration of Meat Price in The Global Market: The Case of Iran’s Market
In view of the importance of the meat imports and the exports of meat in Iran, this study focuses on the status of the global market of meat imports the unit price test in these markets between the years 1961 and 2011 using the market cointegration approach. The results of this study are indicative of prices co-integration in the international market of meat as well as among such major importer...
متن کاملAssortment and Pricing with Demand Learning
Retailers, from fashion stores to grocery stores, have to decide what range of products to offer (assortment planning) and what prices to charge (price optimization). New business trends, such as mass customization and shorter product life cycles, make predicting demand more difficult, which in turn complicates assortment planning and price optimization. We propose and study a stochastic dynami...
متن کاملEffect of Pricing Intervals on the Congestion-Sensitivity of Network Service Prices
Abstract— Congestion-sensitive pricing schemes for wide area networks have attracted significant attention over the last decade. Several proposals have been made for congestion-sensitive pricing of the Internet. One key implementation obstacle for these dynamic pricing schemes is the necessity of frequent price updates whereas the structure of wide area networks does not allow frequent price up...
متن کاملOn the extent of correlation in BGP updates in the Internet and what it tells us about locality of BGP routing events
The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is the core routing protocol in the Internet. It maintains reachability information towards IP networks, called prefixes. The adoption of BGP has come at a price: a steady growth in the routing table size [1] as well as BGP updates [2]. In this work, we take a different look at BGP updates, by quantifying the amount of prefix correlation in the BGP updates rece...
