Comparison of Canonical and Grand Canonical Models for selected multifragmentation data
نویسندگان
چکیده
Calculations for a set of nuclear multifragmentation data are made using a Canonical and a Grand Canonical Model. The physics assumptions are identical but the Canonical Model has an exact number of particles, whereas, the Grand Canonical Model has a varying number of particles, hence, is less exact. Interesting differences are found. Typeset using REVTEX 1

متن کاملThe Thermodynamic Model for Nuclear Multifragmentation
A great many observables seen in intermediate energy heavy ion collisions can be explained on the basis of statistical equilibrium. Calculations based on statistical equilibrium can be implemented in microcanonical ensemble (energy and number of particles in the system are kept fixed), canonical ensemble (temperature and number of particles are kept fixed) or grand canonical ensemble (fixed tem...

متن کاملGrand Canonical Model Predictions For Nuclear Fragmentation
A very simple but very popular model for nuclear multifragmentation is this: the nucleus is heated up and breaks up into many pieces (composites and new produced particles if the energy is sufficient) strictly according to phase space. This occurs in an expanded volume, about three or four times the normal volume. Population strictly according to phase-space implies chemical and thermal equilib...
متن کاملLiquid-gas phase transition in the canonical ensemble of asymmetric nuclear matter
New calculus of the liquid-gas phase transition is developed for the canonical ensemble of asymmetric nuclear matter. In contrast to the familiar geometrical construction, the pressure and the chemical potentials are determined for de nite values of the baryon densities of proton and neutron and the temperature. Because the derivatives of chemical potentials by pressure have discontinuities at ...
