Similarity Logic And Translations

چکیده
A similarity-based fuzzy logic was proposed by M.S.Ying in [10] and successively investigated in [2]. The basic idea is that we can make ”approximate” reasoning by allowing an inference rule to work also in the case the antecedent clauses match only approximately previously proven formulas. Some tentative to applying such an idea to logic programming was proposed in [1], [6] and [7]. In this note we investigate the possibility of applying the notion of ”translation” which is on the basis of several abstract treatment of logic (see, for example, [4], [3], [5], [8]) to the similarity-based logic. This since any similarity relation enables us to define a family of translations. We refer to classical first order logic as defined, as an example, by E. Mendelson in [4]. In particular, we define the class of well-formed formulae (wff ) by assuming that if α and β are wff then (¬α), (α ∧ β), (α ∨ β), and (∀xiα) are wff too. As usual, sometimes we reduce the number of unnecessary parethesis.

A Formalisation of Weak Normalisation (with Respect to Permutations) of Sequent Calculus Proofs
Dyckhoff and Pinto present a weakly normalising system of reductions on derivations in the cut-free intuitionistic sequent calculus, where the normal derivations are characterised as the fixed points of the composition of the Prawitz translations into natural deduction and back. This paper presents a formalisation of the system, including a proof of the weak normalisation property for the forma...
متن کاملTranslation Invariant Approach for Measuring Similarity of Signals
In many signal processing applications, an appropriate measure to compare two signals plays a fundamental role in both implementing the algorithm and evaluating its performance. Several techniques have been introduced in literature as similarity measures. However, the existing measures are often either impractical for some applications or they have unsatisfactory results in some other applicati...

متن کاملEvaluation of a Method of Creating New Valency Entries
Information on subcategorization and selectional restrictions is important for natural language processing tasks such as deep parsing, rule-based machine translation and automatic summarization. In this paper we present a method of adding detailed entries to a bilingual dictionary, based on information in an existing valency dictionary. The method is based on two assumptions: words with similar...
متن کاملThe Correlation of Machine Translation Evaluation Metrics with Human Judgement on Persian Language
Machine Translation Evaluation Metrics (MTEMs) are the central core of Machine Translation (MT) engines as they are developed based on frequent evaluation. Although MTEMs are widespread today, their validity and quality for many languages is still under question. The aim of this research study was to examine the validity and assess the quality of MTEMs from Lexical Similarity set on machine tra...
