چکیده
Computerized techniques for the evaluation of O'Farrell two-dimensional electrophoretic gels have been applied to proteins derived from asbestos bearing macrophages. Preliminary results indicate definite changes in the protein content of cells depending on fiber phagocytosis.

Involvement of protein kinase C, phospholipase C, and protein tyrosine kinase pathways in oxygen radical generation by asbestos-stimulated alveolar macrophage.
Although asbestos stimulates oxygen radical generation in alveolar macrophages, the exact mechanism is still not clear. The purpose of this study was to compare the ability of three asbestos fibers (amosite, chrysotile, and crocidolite) to generate oxygen radicals in macrophages and examine the mechanism of this action. All asbestos fibers were able to induce chemiluminescence but chrysotile in...

Background and aims : Asbestos components are one of the most hazardous air pollutants that can cause a number of serious diseases in humanincluding asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma . The main goal of this research was the assessment of occupational exposure effects with Asbestos fibers on pulmonary function and lung capacity disorders in worker of an Asbestos- cement pipe and plate m...
متن کاملAsbestos Inhalation Induces Peroxynitrite Formation in the Rat Lung
To determine whether asbestos inhalation induces the formation of reactive nitrogen species, three groups of rats were exposed intermittently over 2 wk to either filtered room air (sham-exposed) or to chrysotile or crocidolite asbestos fibers. The rats were killed at 1 or 6 wk after exposure. At 1 wk, significantly greater numbers of alveolar and pleural macrophages from asbestos-exposed rats t...

Internalization of Libby amphibole asbestos and induction of oxidative stress in murine macrophages.
The community members of Libby, MT, have experienced significant asbestos exposure and developed numerous asbestos-related diseases including fibrosis and lung cancer due to an asbestos-contaminated vermiculite mine near the community. The form of asbestos in the contaminated vermiculite has been characterized in the amphibole family of fibers. However, the pathogenic effects of these fibers ha...
