چکیده

Mobile ad-hoc networks(MANET) are collected many number of nodes. In a mobile ad-hoc network(MANET) undertakes that all the mobile nodes unitewillingly in order to work accurately. This is a cost –intensive action for the collaboration and particular nodes can decline to cooperate then it will prominent to a selfish node behaviour. Thus, it will utterly affect the global network performance. The watchdogs are a well-known device used for identifying a selfish node.Theprocedure performed by watchdogs can fail, generating false positives and false negatives this may convince to wrong operation.Whenidentifying selfish node trusting on local watchdogs only can prime to poor performance,in terms of precision and speed. Thus we propose collaborative contact based watchdog(COCOWA) as a collaborative method based on the dispersion of selfish nodes responsiveness when a contact occurs,so the evidence will quickly circulated about selfish nodes. As shown in the paper, whenidentifying a selfish nodes this collaborative approach decreases the time and rises the precision.

A Survey on Efficient Detection of Selfish Nodes in MANET using A Collaborative Watchdog

Misbehavior of Nodes is basically due to selfish or faulty nodes or malicious reasons can degrade the performance of Mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs). To handle with misbehaviour in such self-organised networks, nodes need to adapt their strategy to changing levels of cooperation. This cooperation is a cost-intensive activity and some nodes can refuse to cooperate, leading to a selfish node beha...

Misbehavior Routing Identification by Collaborative Contact Based Detection in MANET

The continuously self-configuring, Infrastructure less Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) route in effective manner by utilizing the voluntary cooperating nodes. That is the ability of each node to move independently and freely, thus can configure the links to other nodes frequently. Certain node refuse to cooperate and leads to the selfish behavior and such nodes are named as selfish nodes, whose...

Novel Evaluation of ACK based IDS Techniques for Dropping Attack in MANETs using OMNET++ Simulator

Wireless networking is becoming one of the most important technologies nowadays, allowing users to get services and access information regardless of their location and allows users to communicate with each other wirelessly without depending on any fixed infrastructure. However, MANET works under an assumption that all nodes in the network are collaborating to forward packets which in fact isn't...

DST-Based Detection of Non-cooperative Forwarding Behavior of MANET and WSN Nodes

Selfish node behavior can diminish the reliability of a mobile ad hoc network (MANET) or a wireless sensor network (WSN). Efficient detection of such behavior is therefore essential. One approach is to construct a reputation scheme, which has network nodes determine and share reputation values associated with each node; these values can next be used as input to a routing algorithm to avoid end-...

Secure and Efficient Watchdog Optimization for Cluster - Based Wireless Sensor Networks

Watchdogs are an effective mechanism to detect selfish and malicious attacks from computer networks. In networks, such as MANETs, attack analysis and detection is a more importantfor the whole network. Watchdog systems detect the misbehavior and that neighbor node by using data collection and analysis, so accuracy, less delay and effectiveness are achieving much more security and performance in...
