چکیده

INTRODUCTION Ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease (CD) are idiopathic conditions that primarily affect the gastrointestinal tract, but also are associated with a variety of systemic or extra-intestinal manifestations. These extra-intestinal manifestations may implicate multiple organ systems. For some of these disorders there is evidence that the severity and duration of the inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) may influence the course of the extra-intestinal manifestations, whereas others are independent of the underlying bowel disease. The pathogenesis of these manifestations remains elusive. Hepatobiliary complications commonly occur in IBD (Table 1). Of these complications, primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is the most serious and is an A SPECIAL ARTICLE

Hepatic manifestations of inflammatory bowel diseases.

Inflammatory bowel diseases are associated with various hepatobiliary disorders, reported both in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. They may occur at any moment in the natural course of the disease. The prevalence of liver dysfunction rises from 3% to 50% accordingly to definitions used in different studies. Fatty liver is considered as the most common hepatobiliary complication in inflam...

Atypical antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies with perinuclear fluorescence in chronic inflammatory bowel diseases and hepatobiliary disorders colocalize with nuclear lamina proteins.

Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) are frequently associated with chronic inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) and hepatobiliary disorders. However, their target antigens have not been identified yet. Recently, we observed an atypical perinuclear ANCA fluorescence (p-ANCA) together with an intranuclear staining using ANCA-positive sera from patients with IBD and hepatobiliary disorders. ...

Extraintestinal manifestations of inflammatory bowel disease.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is associated with a variety of extraintestinal manifestations (EIMs) that may produce greater morbidity than the underlying intestinal disease and may even be the initial presenting symptoms of the IBD. As many as 36% of patients with IBD have at least one EIM. Some are more common related to active colitis (joint, skin, ocular, and oral manifestations). Others...

Liver Disorders in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Disorders of the hepatobiliary system are relatively common extraintestinal manifestations of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). These disorders are sometimes due to a shared pathogenesis with IBD as seen in primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and small-duct primary sclerosing cholangitis (small-duct PSC). There are also hepatobiliary manifestations such as cholelithiasis and portal vein thromb...

Hepatic Issues and Complications Associated With Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Clinical Report From the NASPGHAN Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Hepatology Committees.

Hepatobiliary disorders are common in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and persistent abnormal liver function tests are found in approximately 20% to 30% of individuals with IBD. In most cases, the cause of these elevations will fall into 1 of 3 main categories. They can be as a result of extraintestinal manifestations of the disease process, related to medication toxicity, or th...
