Distributing points uniformly on the unit sphere under a mirror reflection symmetry constraint

چکیده
Uniformly distributed point sets on the unit sphere with and without symmetry constraints have been found useful in many scientific and engineering applications. Here, a novel variant of the Thomson problem is proposed and formulated as an unconstrained optimization problem. While the goal of the Thomson problem is to find the minimum energy configuration of N electrons constrained on the surface vailable online 16 June 2014

Local Symmetry of Unit Tangent Sphere Bundle With g- Natural Almost Contact B-Metric Structure
We consider the unit tangent sphere bundle of Riemannian manifold ( M, g ) with g-natural metric G̃ and we equip it to an almost contact B-metric structure. Considering this structure, we show that there is a direct correlation between the Riemannian curvature tensor of ( M, g ) and local symmetry property of G̃. More precisely, we prove that the flatness of metric g is necessary and sufficien...
متن کاملA simple scheme for generating nearly uniform distribution of antipodally symmetric points on the unit sphere
A variant of the Thomson problem, which is about placing a set of points uniformly on the surface of a sphere, is that of generating uniformly distributed points on the sphere that are endowed with antipodal symmetry, i.e., if x is an element of the point set then -x is also an element of that point set. Point sets with antipodal symmetry are of special importance to many scientific and enginee...
متن کاملSpecial Geometry and Mirror Symmetry for Open String Backgrounds with N=1 Supersymmetry
We review an approach for computing non-perturbative, exact superpotentials for Type II strings compactified on Calabi-Yau manifolds, with extra fluxes and D-branes on top. The method is based on an open string generalization of mirror symmetry, and takes care of the relevant sphere and disk instanton contributions. We formulate a framework based on relative (co)homology that uniformly treats t...
متن کاملThe appearance of multitude from unit in Farabi’s
Farabi has described the problem of emanation with negative determiners and referred to the first intellect as the first case of emanation. For him, the appearance of multitude by intellect is described on a dual order; though the way of description is not accepted by the philosophers before him, specially by Avicenna. Farabi links the old physics to the problem of emanation and, therefore, ...
متن کاملThe spherical ensemble and uniform distribution of points on the sphere
The spherical ensemble is a well-studied determinantal process with a fixed number of points on S. The points of this process correspond to the generalized eigenvalues of two appropriately chosen random matrices, mapped to the surface of the sphere by stereographic projection. This model can be considered as a spherical analogue for other random matrix models on the unit circle and complex plan...
