چکیده

The advent of mobile, wearable, and ubiquitous computing presents opportunities for audiocentric interfaces that use sound as the primary or only means of displaying information to users whose eyes are otherwise engaged. While interface designers have a wealth of technological capabilities at their disposal for capturing, storing, transmitting, and displaying sound, there is a lack of appropriate resources to inform and inspire the design of compelling new audiocentric interfaces. This paper presents work towards developing guidelines for audio interface designers by developing a suite of interface “building blocks:” common interface elements that can be incorporated into the design of complex interfaces. Several audio progress meters and experiments in directing user focus in a spatialized audio environment are discussed.

Economic Regulation Design for the Electricity Distribution Companies of Iran

In addition to the necessity of liberalizing the price of the various sectors of electricity, the regulation of sectors that still maintain their own monopoly structure is mandatory. In order to improve the efficiency of these sectors and encourage their cost reduction, incentive-based regulatory approaches are used which rely on performance evaluation. Due to the monopolistic structure of Iran...

Design Patterns for Independent Building Blocks

The pattern language presented in this paper aims at helping designers to develop reusable building blocks that can be plugged together as needed by the application to be built. The patterns try to identify essential properties of reusable software. In particular, we show that extensive standardization is not a necessary prerequisite of reusability as long as interfaces are designed in a way th...

Optimum System-Level Design of ∆Σ Modulators

A successful ∆Σ converter design at a systemlevel implies a good understanding of the performance degrading nonidealities of the building blocks. An overview of these nonidealities is given in this paper together with an approach to optimally select the best suited topology for a certain set of performance requirements (dynamic range, signal bandwidth) based on a relative power merit. A dedicat...

Protocol Design Concepts, IP and Routing

Protocols are complex, distributed pieces of software. Abstraction and modular design are standard techniques used by software engineers to deal with complexity. By abstraction, we mean that a subset of functions is carefully chosen and setup as a “blackbox” or module (see Figure 1). The module has an interface describing its input/output behavior. The interface outlives the implementation the ...

تحلیل کارایی انرژی در مدل‌های بافت شهری اقلیم گرم و خشک، نمونۀ موردی: شهر اصفهان

Among the most important factors affecting energy consumption in the building sector are social and economic conditions, the culture of energy consumption, geographical and climatic characteristics of a city, the role of a city, efficiency of energy supply and consumption systems, and physical/spatial parameters of buildings and residential fabrics. Addressing urban form through planning ...
