چکیده

The coupling of a boundary spin operator to the two dimensional Ising model is known to lead to renormalization group ow to a theory with xed or Dirichlet boundary conditions at large distance from the boundary. Using the fact that spin and disorder operators are dual under a Kramers{Wannier or T-duality transformation, we show that coupling a boundary disorder operator results in an RG ow to free or Neumann boundary conditions. It seems that RG ow is reversed under the duality transformation. We reconcile this result with the conventional wisdom about RG ow and with the g-theorem of AAeck and Ludwig by noting that there are diierent possible deenitions of free or xed boundary conditions in the Ising theory, with diierent ground state degeneracies. In the two dual calculations, we show that the RG ow is restricted to diierent (dual) sectors of the theory with diierent free and xed boundary states. Within each sector, the ow is always towards the conformally invariant boundary state with lowest ground state degeneracy.

Generalized Geometry, T-duality, and Renormalization Group Flow

We interpret the physical B-field renormalization group flow in the language of Courant algebroids, clarifying the sense in which this flow is the natural “Ricci flow” for generalized geometry. Next we show that the B-field renormalization group flow preserves T-duality in a natural sense. As corollaries we obtain new long time existence results for the B-field renormalization group flow.

Heterotic T-duality and the Renormalization Group

We consider target space duality transformations for heterotic sigma models and strings away from renormalization group fixed points. By imposing certain consistency requirements between the T -duality symmetry and renormalization group flows, the one loop gauge beta function is uniquely determined, without any diagram calculations. Classical T -duality symmetry is a valid quantum symmetry of t...

Time-Dependent Real-Space Renormalization Group Method

In this paper, using the tight-binding model, we extend the real-space renormalization group method to time-dependent Hamiltonians. We drive the time-dependent recursion relations for the renormalized tight-binding Hamiltonian by decimating selective sites of lattice iteratively. The formalism is then used for the calculation of the local density of electronic states for a one dimensional quant...

Boundary elds and renormalization group owin the two

We analyze the Ising model on a random surface with a boundary magnetic eld using matrix model techniques. We are able to exactly calculate the disk amplitude, boundary magnetization and bulk magnetization in the presence of a boundary eld. The results of these calculations can be interpreted in terms of renormalization group ow induced by the boundary operator. In the continuum limit this RG o...

A numerical renormalization group approach for calculating the spectrum of a vibronic system occurring in molecules or impurities in insulators

Theoretically, in order to describe the behavior of a spectrum, a mathematical model whichcould predict the spectrum characteristics is needed. Since in this study a Two-state system has beenused like models which was introduced previously past and could couple with the environment, theformer ideas have been extended in this study. we use the second quantized version for writing thisHamiltonian...
