چکیده

The HTTP/1.1 protocol is the result of four years of discussion and debate among a broad group of Web researchers and developers. It improves upon its phenomenally successful predecessor, HTTP/1.0, in numerous ways. We discuss the diierences between HTTP/1.0 and HTTP/1.1, as well as some of the rationale behind these changes.

Key Differences Between HTTP/1.0 and HTTP/1.1

The HTTP=1.1 protocol is the result of four years of discussion and debate among a broad group of Web researchers and developers. It improves upon its phenomenally successful predecessor, HTTP=1.0, in numerous ways. We discuss the differences between HTTP=1.0 and HTTP=1.1, as well as some of the rationale behind these changes.  1999 Published by Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

En Passant: Predicting Http/1.1 Traffic

| Signiicant research on the Web is performed using logs collected from proxies and servers. Virtually all of these logs are from sites running the 1.0 version (or earlier) of HTTP. After four years a draft-standard speciication of HTTP/1.1 has emerged. However , many proxies and servers still use HTTP/1.0, and most so-called HTTP/1.1 servers do not employ all of the key features available in t...

SIGMETRICS ’ 99 A Performance Evaluation of Hyper Text Transfer Protocols

Version 1.1 of the Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP) was principally developed as a means for reducing both document transfer latency and network tra c. The rationale for the performance enhancements in HTTP/1.1 is based on the assumption that the network is the bottleneck in Web transactions. In practice, however, the Web server can be the primary source of document transfer latency. In this...

Analysis of HTTP / 1 . 1 Performance on

We compare the performance of HTTP/1.0 and 1.1 on a high latency, low bandwidth wireless network. HTTP/1.0 is known to have low throughput and consume excessive network and server resources on today's graphics-intensive web pages. A high latency, low bandwidth network only magniies these problems. HTTP/1.1 was developed to remedy these problems. We show that on a Ricochet wireless network, HTTP...
