چکیده

We use numerical simulations to calculate the cosmic microwave background anisotropy induced by the evolution of a global texture eld, with special emphasis on individual textures. Both spherically symmetric and general conngurations are analysed, and in the latter case we consider eld conngurations which exhibit unwinding events and also ones which do not. We compare the results given by evolving the eld numerically under both the expanded core (XCORE) and non-linear sigma model (NLSM) approximations with the analytic predictions of the NLSM exact solution for a spherically symmetric self-similar (SSSS) unwinding. We nd that the random unwinding connguration spots' typical peak height is 60{75% and angular size typically only 10% of those of the SSSS unwinding, and that random conngurations without an unwinding event nonetheless may generate indistinguishable hot and cold spots. A brief comparison is made with other work.

GAUGE INVARIANT COSMOLOGICAL PERTURBATION THEORY A General Study and its application to the Texture Scenario of Structure Formation

After an introduction to the problem of cosmological structure formation, we develop gauge invariant cosmological perturbation theory. We derive the first order perturbation equations of Einstein’s equations and energy momentum “conservation”. Furthermore, the perturbations of Liouville’s equation for collisionless particles and Boltzmann’s equation for Compton scattering are worked out. We ful...

We report briefly on a recent analysis of the texture–induced CMB radiation three–point correlation function of temperature anisotropies as predicted by an analytical model. We specialize our analysis to both large–scales (e.g., for COBE–DMR, where we compare our prediction with the actual four–year data) and intermediate–scales. We show how the latter case puts strong constraints on the model ...

The semivariogram in comparison to the co-occurrence matrix for classification of image texture

Semivariogram functions are compared to cooccurrence matrices for classification of digital image texture, and accuracy is assessed using test sites. Images acquired over the following six different spectral bands are used: 1) SPOT HRV, near infrared; 2) Landsat thematic mapper (TM), visible red; 3) India Remote Sensing (IRS) LISS-II, visible green; 4) Magellan, Venus, S-band microwave; 5) shut...

Effect of Ultrasonic, Microwave, Chemical, and Osmotic Pre-Treatments on Quality Indexes (Texture, Color, and Rehydration Ratio) of Dried Button Mushroom Slices in Hot Air Drying

Objective: Button mushrooms (Agaricus Bisporus) are among the most widely produced and consumed mushrooms in the world. Generally speaking, mushrooms are of great nutritional value, which due to their high content of moisture and their corruptibility particular attention is required to be paid to their conservation and health. Drying is one of the most important ways to preserve the yi...
