چکیده

We highlight a new algorithm for evaluating the surface intersection curve using a matrix formulation. The projection of the intersection curve is represented as the singular set of a bivariate matrix polynomial. The resulting algorithm for evaluating the intersection curve is based on matrix computations like eigendecomposition and singular value decomposition. Furthermore, at each stage of the algorithm we make use of inverse power iterations to march back to the curve. We also describe the performance of the resulting robust and accurate approach.

Modelling photochemistry in alpine valleys

Road traffic is a serious problem in the Chamonix Valley, France: traffic, noise and above all air pollution worry the inhabitants. The big fire in the Mont-Blanc tunnel made it possible, in the framework of the POVA project (POllution in Alpine Valleys), to undertake measurement campaigns with and without heavy-vehicle traffic through the Chamonix and Maurienne valleys, towards Italy (before a...

Spatio-temporal Mining of Polsar Satellite Image Time Series

This paper presents an original data mining approach for describing Satellite Image Time Series (SITS) spatially and temporally. It relies on pixel-based evolution and sub-evolution extraction. These evolutions, namely the frequent grouped sequential patterns, are required to cover a minimum surface and to affect pixels that are sufficiently connected. These spatial constraints are actively use...

Trimming Local and Global Self-intersections in Offset Curves Using Distance Maps

The problem of detecting and eliminating self-intersections in offset curves is a fundamental question that has attracted numerous researchers over the years. The interest has resulted in copious publications on the subject. Unfortunately, the detection of self-intersections in offset curves, and more so, the elimination of these self-intersections are difficult problems with less than satisfac...

Data assimilation of multilayer snowpack on Argentière glacier, using X-band SAR data, DMRT and a detailed snowpack model

This study discuss the potential of using remote sensing data from Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), couple with Dense Media Radiative Transfer (DMRT) model, to constrain the snowpack's optical grain size and density calculated by the detailed snowpack model Crocus. A snowpack Electromagnetic Backscattering Model (EBM) based on DMRT compatible with X-band and Ku-band frequencies is developed from...
