Extent-based incremental identification of reaction systems using concentration and calorimetric measurements

چکیده
Extent-based incremental identification uses the concept of extents and the integral method of parameter estimation to identify reaction kinetics from concentration measurements. The approach is rather general and can be applied to open both homogeneous and gas–liquid reaction systems. This study proposes to incorporate calorimetric measurements into the extent-based identification approach for two main purposes: (i) to be able to compute the extents in certain cases when only a subset of the concentrations is measured and (ii) to estimate the enthalpies when all concentrations are measured. The two approaches are illustrated via the simulation of a homogeneous and a gas–liquid reaction system, respectively. 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Incremental Model Identification for Reaction Systems using Concentration and Calorimetric Measurements
Extent-based Incremental Model Identification (IMI) uses the concept of extent of reaction and the integral method of parameter estimation to identify reaction kinetics from transient concentration measurements. This study proposes to incorporate calorimetric measurements into the extent-based IMI approach. Calorimetric measurements are added to concentration measurements for two main purposes:...
متن کاملIncremental Identification of Reaction and Mass–Transfer Kinetics Using the Concept of Extents
This paper proposes a variation of the incremental approach to identify reaction and masstransfer kinetics (rate expressions and the corresponding rate parameters) from concentration measurements for both homogeneous and gas-liquid reaction systems. This incremental approach proceeds in two steps: (i) computation of the extents of reaction and mass transfer from concentration measurements witho...
متن کاملExtent-based kinetic identification using spectroscopic measurements and multivariate calibration.
Extent-based kinetic identification is a kinetic modeling technique that uses concentration measurements to compute extents and identify reaction kinetics by the integral method of parameter estimation. This article considers the case where spectroscopic data are used together with a calibration model to predict concentrations. The calibration set is assumed to be constructed from reacting data...
متن کاملDistributed Incremental Least Mean-Square for Parameter Estimation using Heterogeneous Adaptive Networks in Unreliable Measurements
Adaptive networks include a set of nodes with adaptation and learning abilities for modeling various types of self-organized and complex activities encountered in the real world. This paper presents the effect of heterogeneously distributed incremental LMS algorithm with ideal links on the quality of unknown parameter estimation. In heterogeneous adaptive networks, a fraction of the nodes, defi...
متن کاملIdentification of Multiphase Reaction Systems with Instantaneous Equilibria
The identification of kinetic models for multiphase reaction systems is complex due to the simultaneous effect of chemical reactions and mass transfers. The extentbased incremental approach simplifies the modeling task by transforming the reaction system into variant states called vessel extents, one for each rate process. This transformation is carried out from the measured numbers of moles (o...
