Features of a Clinically Normal Optic Disc.

چکیده
WE felt that a survey and analysis of the features of normal optic discs could perhaps be rewarding, as such a study had not been carried out, as far as we knew, since the work of Thompson (1920), Picard (1921, 1923), and Bednarski (1925) (Williamson-Noble, 1961). We were of the opinion that to obtain reliable results the study must be confined to simple points observed in the course of a routine examination. The following criteria were to be followed by each observer independently, and no comparison of results was to be made until the end of the survey:

Automatic Optic Disc Center and Boundary Detection in Color Fundus Images
Accurately detection of retinal landmarks, like optic disc, is an important step in the computer aided diagnosis frameworks. This paper presents an efficient method for automatic detection of the optic disc’s center and estimating its boundary. The center and initial diameter of optic disc are estimated by employing an ANN classifier. The ANN classifier employs visual features of vessels and th...
متن کاملRetinal complications of optic disc drusen.
Following reports by Sanders et al. and Wise et al. of optic disc drusen associated with retinal bleeding, an additional 19 cases were studied and followed up for 1 to 10 years (average 5 years). Four of them showed haemorrhages at the optic disc and its borders only, but 15 showed extensive retinopathy with macular involvement. In 3 cases retinopathy was serous and not haemorrhagic. Apart from...

PURPOSE To report on the clinically important differences between nasal optic hypoplasia (NOH) and glaucoma with NOH-like temporal visual field defect (VFD). METHOD Five NOH (four bilateral and one unilateral) patients, three unilateral NOH patients with glaucoma, and two glaucoma patients with NOH-like temporal VFD were clinically characterized. Superior segmental optic nerve hypoplasia was ...
متن کاملOptic Disc Characteristics Assessed by Evaluation of Clinical Optic Disc Photographs in Glaucoma Patients
Purpose: To describe optic disc characteristics assessed by evaluation of clinical optic disc photographs and to utilize these findings to differentiate glaucoma patients and normal subjects. Patients and Methods: A total of 329 eyes of 329 glaucoma patients and 220 eyes of 220 normal subjects were included The disc diameter to disc-to-macula distance ratio (DD/DM ratio), cup-to-disc diameter r...
متن کاملCLINICAL SCIENCE Optic disc morphology of patients with OPA1 autosomal dominant optic atrophy
Background/aims: Patients with autosomal dominant optic atrophy (ADOA) are genetically heterogeneous, but all have disc pallor. A degree of cupping in ADOA can make the distinction from normal tension glaucoma (NTG) clinically difficult. This study aimed to clarify the features of the optic nerve of patients with ADOA at the OPA1 locus. Methods: 29 patients (58 eyes), from 12 families, were ide...
