Peroneal Tendon Pathology and Repair Techniques
نویسندگان
چکیده
Peroneal tendon pathology can range from simple longitudinal tears of one unit, to signifi cant compromise of one of both units, to complete rupture. Repair techniques may differ based on the degree of tendon damage and the personal philosophy of the surgeon relative to their views regarding tendon augmentation. The purpose of this article is to describe techniques that have been employed for peroneal tendon repair and the approach favored by the authors.

The role of ankle arthroscopy and surgical approach in lateral ankle ligament repair
Lateral ankle instability may be associated with intra-articular ankle pathology and peroneal tendon pathology. This study was conducted to determine the relative incidence of associated pathology identified during lateral ligament repair. This information was analysed to determine if a standard surgical protocol of arthroscopic ankle assessment followed by ligament repair through a longitudina...
متن کاملPeroneus brevis rupture associated with a hypertrophic peroneal tubercle: a case report and literature review
Varying morphology of the peroneal tubercle can be associated with peroneal tendon pathology including tendonosis, stenosing tenosynovitis, tendon attrition and tears. The authors present a case of peroneus brevis rupture associated with an enlarged peroneal tubercle in a 59yo male. The clinical testing, medical imaging, diagnosis, surgical reconstruction and rehabilitation is discussed. The li...
متن کاملEndoscopic Superior Peroneal Retinaculum Reconstruction
Post-traumatic peroneal tendon subluxation or dislocation is most commonly due to injury to the superior peroneal retinaculum. Acute repair of the retinaculum is an option for active athletes who desire quick return of sport activity. In general, conventional open surgeries require extensive exposure of the injured superficial peroneal retinaculum and have potential risks of scar formation, sur...
متن کاملShort term results of arthroscopic repair of subscapularis tendon tear
Abstract Background: Despite being the largest rotator cuff tendon of the shoulder, the function and clinical relevance of subscapularis pathology has been largely ignored in the literature. Although many studies have focused on subscapularis tears recently, majority of them reported techniques for open repair. The advent of arthroscopy and arthroscopic repair techniques has opened ...
متن کاملA simplified technique for repair of recurrent peroneal tendon subluxation.
Peroneal tendon subluxation or dislocation denotes intermittent or chronic anterior displacement of the peroneus longus and brevis tendons out of their fibro-osseous tunnel at the distal and posterior aspect of the fibula. Numerous surgical techniques have been described to address peroneal tendon subluxation, including isolated or combined soft tissue and osseous reconstructive procedures. The...
