Representing IP Information in the X.500 Directory
نویسندگان
چکیده
The Internet is growing very fast and so is communication over the net. Connections between nodes can be established with the help of the nodes' IP addresses. An e cient IP look-up service is running as the Domain Name System. However, the DNS is very speci c and provides only IP address to domain name mapping and vice versa. Additional information for nodes can hardly be kept with the DNS. A scheme for the representation of IP addresses in the X.500 Directory is proposed. It is able to provide information about the con guration of the Internet in terms of nodes 1 and lines 2 . Although domain name information can be stored for node objects it is not intented to obsolete the existing Domain Name System by this scheme. 1 In this paper the term node is used for every device connected to the net and running IP. 2 In this paper the term line is used for every kind of physical connection between two or more nodes.

The CORDS Multidatabase System (MDBS) provides applications with an integrated view of a collection of distributed heterogeneous data sources. Applications are presented with a relational view of the available data and are able to access the data using standard SQL operations.
