SMART—Surface models from by-axis-and-radius-defined tubes

چکیده
This paper describes a new method for generation of topologically correct surfaces of branching tubular structures with given centerlines and radii. As the centerlines are not straight lines, the cross sections are not parallel and well known algorithms for surface tiling from parallel cross-sections cannot be used. Non-parallel cross sections can be tiled by means of the maximal-disc interpolation method, but this method is more complex than our approach. The proposed method tiles non-parallel circular cross-sections and constructs a topologically correct 2-manifold surface. The surface mesh serves as a data representation of a vessel tree suitable for real-time Virtual Reality operation planning and operation support within a medical application. That means the proposed method extracts a “classical” surface representation, which can be used in common surface oriented graphic accelerators.

Smart—surface Models from By-axis-and-radius-defined Tubes
This paper shows how to generate a surface of branching tubular structures of given centerlines and radii. As the centerlines are not straight lines, the cross sections are not parallel. Therefore we cannot use the well known algorithms for surface tiling from cross-sections. The aim is to provide a data representation of a vessel tree suitable for real-time Virtual Reality operation planning a...
متن کاملMulti-response Optimization of Grooved Circular Tubes Filled with Polyurethane Foam as Energy Absorber
The main objective of this research is to improvethe design and performance of the polyurethane foam-filled thin-walled aluminum grooved circular tubes using multi-response optimization (MRO) technique. The tubes are shaped with the inner and the outer circular grooves at different positions along the axis. For this aim, several numerical simulations using ABAQUS finite element explicit code ar...
متن کاملInvestigation of convective heat transfer, pressure drop and efficiency of ZnO/water nanofluid in alternating elliptical axis tubes
In this study, for the first time, the heat transfer and the pressure drop of zinc oxide nanoparticles in alternating elliptical axis (AEA) tube have been investigated experimentally. The zinc oxide nanoparticles were at volumetric concentrations 1% and 2%. The base fluid was heat transfer oil and the experiments were conducted at constant wall temperature. Also, the study was done in Reynolds ...
متن کاملCrushing Analysis of Empty and Foam-Filled Cylindrical and Conical Corrugated Composite Tubes
In the present article, a numerical study is performed to investigate the crushing behavior of cylindrical and conical corrugated composite tubes. Different aluminum foams are applied to the proposed structures in order to offer an excellent energy absorption capacity. The crushing behavior of tubes are evaluated in terms of two parameters: SEA (specific energy absorption) and CFE (crush force ...
متن کاملMinimization of the Sheet Thinning in Hydraulic Deep Drawing Process Using Response Surface Methodology and Finite Element Method
In most of the sheet forming processes, production of the parts with minimum thickness variation and low required force is important. In this research, minimization of the sheet thinning and forming force in the hydraulic deep drawing process has been studied. Firstly, the process is simulated using the finite element method (FEM) and simulation model is verified using the experimental results....
