Changes in active ghrelin levels with time in each group. Active ghrelin levels at 3 hours after surgery were reduced in the surgery/no medication (SNM) group and did not recover by 24 hours after surgery. There was no significant change in the surgery medication (SM) group. Pre-op, pre-operative; Post-op, post-operative; NSNM, no surgery/no medication; NSM, no surgery/medication.
