چکیده
Fractional covers of photosynthetic and non-photosynthetic vegetation are key indicators for land degradation surveillance in the dryland of China. However, there are no available, well validated, and multispectral-based products. Aiming for this, we selected the Beijing and Tianjin Sandstorm Source Region as the study area, and utilized the linear spectral mixture model for generating the fractional cover of PV, NPV, and bare soil, with endmember spectra retrieved from the field measured endmember spectral library, based on the MODIS NBAR data from 2001 to 2015. The unmixing results were validated through comparison with the field samples. The results show the method adopted could acquire rational and accurate estimation of fractional cover of photosynthetic vegetation (R2 = 0.6297, RMSE = 0.2443) and non-photosynthetic vegetation (R2 = 0.3747, RMSE = 0.2568). The dataset could provide key data support for the users in land degradation surveillance fields. Data Set: https://figshare.com/s/b7fc746acbc986a20bf2 Data Set License: CC-BY

Photosynthetic parameter estimations by considering interactive effects of light, temperature and CO2 concentration
Biochemical leaf photosynthesis models are evaluated by laboratory results andhave been widely used at field scale for quantification of plant production, biochemical cycles and land surface processes. It is a key issue to search forappropriate model structure and parameterization, which determine modeluncertainty. A leaf photosynthesis model that couples the Farquhar-vonCaemmerer-Berry (FvCB) f...
متن کاملAdvancing reference emission levels in subnational and national REDD+ initiatives: a CLASlite approach
Conservation and monitoring of tropical forests requires accurate information on their extent and change dynamics. Cloud cover, sensor errors and technical barriers associated with satellite remote sensing data continue to prevent many national and sub-national REDD+ initiatives from developing their reference deforestation and forest degradation emission levels. Here we present a framework for...
متن کاملHuman Activity Influences on Vegetation Cover Changes in Beijing, China, from 2000 to 2015
For centuries, the rapid development of human society has already made human activity the dominant factor in the terrestrial ecosystem. As the city of greatest importance in China, the capital Beijing has experienced eco-environmental changes with unprecedented economic and population growth during the past few decades. To better understand the ecological transition and its correlations in Beij...
متن کاملComparison of Methods for Estimating Fractional Cover of Photosynthetic and Non-Photosynthetic Vegetation in the Otindag Sandy Land Using GF-1 Wide-Field View Data
Photosynthetic vegetation (PV) and non-photosynthetic vegetation (NPV) are important ground cover types for desertification monitoring and land management. Hyperspectral remote sensing has been proven effective for separating NPV from bare soil, but few studies determined fractional cover of PV (f pv) and NPV (f npv) using multispectral information. The purpose of this study is to evaluate seve...
متن کاملNonlinear spectral mixture effects for photosynthetic/non-photosynthetic vegetation cover estimates of typical desert vegetation in western China
Desert vegetation plays significant roles in securing the ecological integrity of oasis ecosystems in western China. Timely monitoring of photosynthetic/non-photosynthetic desert vegetation cover is necessary to guide management practices on land desertification and research into the mechanisms driving vegetation recession. In this study, nonlinear spectral mixture effects for photosynthetic/no...
