The Discrete Painlevé I Hierarchy

چکیده
The discrete Painlevé I equation (dPI) is an integrable difference equation which has the classical first Painlevé equation (PI) as a continuum limit. dPI is believed to be integrable because it is the discrete isomonodromy condition for an associated (single-valued) linear problem. In this paper, we derive higher-order difference equations as isomonodromy conditions that are associated to the same linear deformation problem. These form a hierarchy that may be compared to hierarchies of integrable ordinary differential equations (ODEs). We strengthen this comparison by continuum limit calculations that lead to equations in the PI hierarchy. We propose that our difference equations are discrete versions of higher-order Painlevé equations.

Bäcklund transformations for the second Painlevé hierarchy: a modified truncation approach
The second Painlevé hierarchy is defined as the hierarchy of ordinary differential equations obtained by similarity reduction from the modified Korteweg-de Vries hierarchy. Its first member is the well-known second Painlevé equation, PII . In this paper we use this hierarchy in order to illustrate our application of the truncation procedure in Painlevé analysis to ordinary differential equation...

متن کاملImbedded Circle Patterns with the Combinatorics of the Square Grid and Discrete Painlevé Equations
A discrete analogue of the holomorphic map z γ is studied. It is given by Schramm's circle pattern with the combinatorics of the square grid. It is shown that the corresponding circle patterns are imbedded and described by special separatrix solutions of discrete Painlevé equations. Global properties of these solutions, as well as of the discrete z γ , are established.
متن کاملON THE IDENTITY OF TWO q-DISCRETE PAINLEVÉ EQUATIONS AND THEIR GEOMETRICAL DERIVATION
One of the characteristics of discrete Painlevé equations is that they may possess more than one canonical form. Indeed we often encounter equations which are written as a system involving several dependent variables. Since by definition the discrete Painlevé equations are second-order mappings, these multicomponent systems include equations which are local. It is then straightforward, if some ...
متن کاملJa n 20 06 The sixth Painlevé equation arising from D ( 1 ) 4 hierarchy
The sixth Painlevé equation arises from a Drinfel’d-Sokolov hierarchy of type D (1) 4 by similarity reduction. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 34M55, 17B80, 37K10. Introduction The Drinfel’d-Sokolov hierarchies are extensions of the KdV (or mKdV) hierarchy [DS]. It is known that their similarity reductions imply several Painlevé equations [AS, KK1, NY1]. For the sixth Painlevé equation...
