CatenaryCAD : An Architectural Design Tool Final Project Report Team Sixteen

چکیده
The architect Antonio Gaudi designed complex structures based on catenary systems. His beautiful forms were created by suspending pieces of string from hooks, deforming them with weights and other strings, then inverting the form to create the structural elements. Today’s architects are at a loss to reproduce these types of catenary forms when using even the most advanced design tools on the market. For our final project, we aim to provide a computationally enhanced version of Gaudi’s atelier. We are creating the design software for architects interested in building models using catenary systems. The tool is implemented in C++ and Tcl/Tk, and intented to be used for both construction and analysis of catenary forms.

A Case Study: Developing an Architectural Design Description for the Technology– Communications Engineering Viewpoint
This paper presents a case study of the experience of a technical architecture team, the TA-CE Team, when developing an architectural design description (ADD) for an IT system focused on the communications engineering views of the technology viewpoint. The project charter and requirements for the assignments of the TA-CE Team project are based on a real-world initiative to improve electronic co...
متن کاملReport: A Capstone Project involving a Hundred Students, for an Industrial Partner
The recently approved Cal Poly software engineering major concludes with a significant capstone project. During a yearlong course sequence, students specify, design, construct and deploy a large software project for an industrial partner. This report summarizes the capstone sequence project in the current academic year; sixteen student teams constructed an automated testing system for an indu...
متن کاملAssessing Semester-Long Student Team Design Reports in Large Classes to Provide Individual Student Grades
This paper presents a method and tool to achieve a trade-off between workload on assessors of semester-long team-based design projects in large classes, with the need for fair and comprehensive assessments of each student individually. Students “book time” throughout the semester, recording their level of input into each project element. They each provide totals for time spent on each element o...
متن کاملService Oriented Solution Modeling and Variation Propagation Analysis Based on Architectural Building Blocks
In spite of the widely recognized benefits of applying Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) to design enterprise-scale software systems, its actual application practice is not always a success. One major reason is the lack of a systematic engineering process and tool supported by reusable architectural artifacts. Toward this ultimate goal, this paper proposes a new method of architectural buildi...
متن کاملTowards Refactoring of DMARF and GIPSY Case Studies - A Team 5 SOEN6471-S14 Project Report
This paper presents an analysis of the architectural design of two distributed open source systems (OSS) developed in Java: Distributed Modular Audio Recognition Framework (DMARF) and General Intensional Programming System (GIPSY). The research starts with a background study of these frameworks to determine their overall architectures. Afterwards, we identify the actors and stakeholders and dra...
