چکیده

Photochemical transformations of methyl coumalate have been studied by matrix-isolation technique. Two photoreactions were induced by UV (k > 295 nm) light: isomerisation to the Dewar form and a-bond cleavage leading to the open-ring aldehyde-ketene. The first photoprocess was found to be strongly dominating. Experimental evidence of photoreversibility of both photoisomerisation processes has been provided. Upon k > 200 nm irradiation, the photochemically formed monomeric Dewar species underwent decarboxylation, with production of methoxycarbonyl-substituted cyclobutadiene. This antiaromatic photoproduct was experimentally observed for the first time. All the photoproduced species were identified by comparison of their IR spectra with the spectra calculated at the DFT(B3LYP)/6-311++G(d,p) level. 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

First inverse electron-demand Diels-Alder methodology of 3-chloroindoles and methyl coumalate to carbazoles.

The first successful inverse electron-demand Diels-Alder has been demonstrated with the 2-pyrone methyl coumalate in conjunction with substituted indoles. Utilizing 1-alkyl-3-chloroindoles as the electron-rich dienophile efficiently generates carbazoles without the need for additional metal catalysts. Through a thermal, one-pot Diels-Alder/decarboxylation/elimination domino sequence, access to ...

Crystal structure of methyl endo-8-cyano-exo-8-methyl-3-oxo-2-oxabicyclo[2.2.2]oct-5-ene-6-carboxylate.

A photochemical cycloaddition reaction of methyl 2-pyrone-5-carboxylate with methacrylonitrile mainly gave a [4 + 2] cycloadduct, assigned as methyl endo-8-cyano-exo-8-methyl-3-oxo-2-oxabicyclo[2.2.2]oct-5-ene-6-carboxylate, whose structure was determined by an X-ray diffraction study. The formation of the cycloadduct was reasonably explained by considering a biradical intermediate having a les...

Molecular structure, vibrational spectra and photochemistry of 5-mercapto-1-methyltetrazole

In this work, 5-mercapto-1-methyltetrazole was studied by low temperature matrix-isolation and solid-state infrared spectroscopy, DFT(B3LYP)/6-311CCG(d,p) calculations and photochemical methods. In the low temperature neat solid phase and isolated in an argon matrix, the compound was found to exist in the 1-methyl-1,4-dihydro-5H-tetrazole-5-thione tautomeric form. The infrared spectra of the co...

Molecular structure, vibrational spectra and photochemistry of 2-methyl-2H-tetrazol-5-amine in solid argon.

In this work, the molecular structure, infrared spectrum and UV photochemistry of 2-methyl-2H-tetrazol-5-amine (2MTA) isolated in solid argon (10 K) were investigated. The experimental studies were supported by extensive DFT(B3LYP)/6-311++G(d,p) calculations. The infrared spectrum of matrix-isolated 2MTA was fully assigned and correlated with structural properties. Taking into consideration the...

Adsorption of Methyl orange dye from Water solutions by carboxylate group functionalized multi-walled Carbon nanotubes

The present study was carried out to investigate the potential of carboxylate group functionalized Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT−COOH) adsorbent for the removal of Methyl orange (MO) textile dye from aqueous solutions. The effects of pH, shaking time and temperature on adsorption capacity were studied; the contact time to obtain equilibrium at 298 ˚K was fixed at 25 min. The effect of te...
