چکیده

Combining differential Alamouti space-time block code (DASTBC) with orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA), this paper introduces a multiuser/multirate transmission scheme, which allows full-rate and full-diversity noncoherent communications using two transmit antennas over frequency-selective fading channels. Compared with the existing differential space-time coded OFDM designs, our scheme imposes no restrictions on signal constellations, and thus can improve the spectral efficiency by exploiting efficient modulation techniques such as QAM, APSK etc. The main principles of our design are as follows: OFDMA eliminates multiuser interference, and converts multiuser environments to single-user ones; Space-time coding achieves performance improvement by exploiting space diversity available with multiple antennas, no matter whether channel state information is known to the receiver. System performance is evaluated both analytically and with simulations.

Single-Carrier Frequency-Domain Equalization for Orthogonal STBC over Frequency-Selective MIMO-PLC channels

In this paper we propose a new space diversity scheme for broadband PLC systems using orthogonal space-time block coding (OSTBC) transmission combined with single-carrier frequency-domain equalization (SC-FDE). To apply this diversity technique to PLC channels, we first propose a new technique for combining SC-FDE with OSTBCs applicable to all dispersive multipath channels impaired by impulsive...

Adaptive Switching between Space-Time and Space-Frequency Block Coded OFDM Systems in Rayleigh Fading Channel

This work explores the performances of Space-Time and Space Frequency Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) with simple two branches transmit diversity scheme. The combination of multiple-antenna and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) provides reliable communications over frequency selective fading channels. We focus on the application of space-time block codes ...

Kalman Filtering for Space-time Coded Transmissions over Frequency-selective Rayleigh Fading Channels

The problem of multichannel estimation for space-time coded transmissions over frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channels is addressed. Under fast fading conditions, receivers employing Kalman filtering and moderate complexity equalization schemes are proposed for both space-time block codes (STBCs) and space-time trellis codes (STTCs). Simulation results of the proposed receivers demonstrate...

Space-time block-coded multiple access through frequency-selective fading channels

Mitigation of multipath fading effects and suppression of multiuser interference (MUI) constitute major challenges in the design of wide-band third-generation wireless mobile systems. Space–time (ST) coding offers an effective transmit-antenna diversity technique to combat fading, but most existing ST coding schemes assume flat fading channels that may not be valid for wide-band communications....

Super-Orthogonal Block Codes with Multichannel Equalisation and OFDM in Frequency Selective Fading

Super-orthogonal block codes in space-time domain (i.e., Super-orthogonal space-time trellis codes (SOSTTCs)) were initially designed for frequency nonselective (FNS) channels but in frequency selective (FS) channels these super-orthogonal block codes suffer performance degradation due to signal interference. To combat the effects of signal interference caused by the frequency selectivity of th...
