New protocol for construction of eyeglasses-supported provisional nasal

A new proto col for m aking an immediate prov isional eyeg lasses-supported nasa l p rosthesis is presen ted t hat uses laser scann ing, com puter-aided desig n/computer-aided manufacturing procedu res, and rapid p rototyping tech niques, reducing time and costs while increasing the quality of the final product. With this protocol, the eyeglasses were digitized, and the relative posit ion of the nasal prosthesis was plan ned and evaluated in a virtual environment without any try-in app ointment. This in novative m ethod saves tim e, reduces costs, and restores the patient’s aesthetic appearance after a disfiguration caused by ab lation of the nasal py ramid bet ter th an conv entional restoration methods. Moreover, the digital model of the designed nasal ep ithesis can be u sed to devel op a definit ive prosthesis anchored to osseointegrated craniofacial implants.
