Cervical Spine Muscles Activities in Flexion/extension under the Compressive Loading
نویسندگان
چکیده
INTRODUCTION The compressive loading on the cervical spine results the activation of the neck muscles to counterbalance their impact on the posture of the joint. Wearing a helmet in many sports or military and work activities increases the compressive loading. The compressive load is estimated to range from 120 to 1200N [1]. In this current study and based on our finite element model, we aim to estimate the neck muscles net moment able to maintain the the head at four positions: neutral position, 10 and 20deg head flexion and 10deg head extension. The compressive loading considered in this study varies from 40N to 100N with 20N incrementation. The 40N compressive loading is considered as the head weight.

Background and purpose: Çhronic neck pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal problems. Generally, around 67% of adults will experience neck pain some time during their life. The aim of this study was to investigate the changes of neck muscles myoelectric activity in patients with chronic neck pain during flexion-extension movement. Materials and methods: This case-control study was ...

STUDY DESIGN An experimental approach was used to test human cadaveric cervical spine specimens. OBJECTIVE To assess the response of the cervical spine to a compressive follower load applied along a path that approximates the tangent to the curve of the cervical spine. SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA The compressive load on the human cervical spine is estimated to range from 120 to 1200 N during...

Background and purpose: Ultrasonography is a reliable and valid method to assess the strength of neck extensors and measuring the neck muscles dimensions. Cervical muscles strength and dimensions may change in different positions. The aim of this study was to compare the strength of cervical extensor muscles and dimensions of semi-spinalis capitis muscle (SECM) in three different neck positions...

متن کاملKinesio Taping Applied to Lumbar Muscles in Static Lumbar Flexion
Purpose: In approaching full trunk flexion (75%-80% of full flexion), myoelectric activity of lumbar erector spinae muscles is reduced or silenced; this response is known as flexion-relaxation phenomenon (FRP). FRP is a shift in load sharing and spinal stabilization from active structures (erector spinae muscles) to passive ligamentous and articular structures. Static lumbar flexi...
