Optimal Design for Experiments with Possibly Incomplete Observations

چکیده
Missing responses occur in many industrial or medical experiments, for example in clinical trials where slow acting treatments are assessed. Finding efficient designs for such experiments is problematic since it is not known at the design stage which observations will be missing. The design literature mainly focuses on assessing robustness of designs for missing data scenarios, rather than finding designs which are optimal in this situation. Imhof, Song and Wong (2002) propose a framework for design search, based on the expected information matrix. We develop a new approach which includes Imhof, Song and Wong (2002)’s method as special case and justifies its use retrospectively. Our method is illustrated through a simulation study based on real data from an Alzheimer’s disease

An Efficient Bayesian Optimal Design for Logistic Model
Consider a Bayesian optimal design with many support points which poses the problem of collecting data with a few number of observations at each design point. Under such a scenario the asymptotic property of using Fisher information matrix for approximating the covariance matrix of posterior ML estimators might be doubtful. We suggest to use Bhattcharyya matrix in deriving the information matri...
متن کاملSensitivity Analysis of Spatial Sampling Designs for Optimal Prediction
In spatial statistic, the data analyzed which is correlated and this correlation is due to their locations in the studied region. Such correlation that is related to distance between observations is called spatial correlation. Usually in spatial data analysis, the prediction of the amount of uncertain quantity in arbitrary 4locations of the area is considered according to attained observations ...
متن کاملDesign of a Bi-Objective Capacitated Single-Allocation Incomplete Hub Network Considering an Elastic Demand
This paper presents a bi-objective capacitated hub arc location problem with single assignment for designing a metro network with an elastic demand. In the literature, it is widely supposed that the network created with the hub nodes is complete. In this paper, this assumption is relaxed. Moreover, in most hub location problems, the demand is assumed to be static and independent of the location...
متن کاملOptimal (R, Q) policy and pricing for two-echelon supply chain with lead time and retailer’s service-level incomplete information
Many studies focus on inventory systems to analyze different real-world situations. This paper considers a two-echelon supply chain that includes one warehouse and one retailer with stochastic demand and an up-to-level policy. The retailer’s lead time includes the transportation time from the warehouse to the retailer that is unknown to the retailer. On the other hand, the warehouse is unaware ...
متن کاملOptimal strategies of radial velocity observations in planet search surveys
Applications of the theory of optimal design of experiments to radial velocity planet search surveys are considered. Different optimality criteria are discussed, basing on the Fisher, Shannon, and Kullback-Leibler informations. Algorithms of optimal scheduling of RV observations for two important practical problems are considered. The first problem is finding the time for future observations to...
