Fate and Mobility of Glyphosate Leachate in Palestinian Soil Using Soil Column
نویسندگان
چکیده
In recent years, pesticides were used heavily in Palestine, which led to the contamination of soil and water and causing many diseases. Many studies focused on the impact of pollutants such as pesticides and oil on soil, humans, animals, plants and the environment in general. Using column study the amount of glyphosate in soil decreases with increasing depth of soil, where it is for 0-30cm(11ppm) > 30-60cm(6ppm) > 60-100cm(2ppm) due to organic content and metal oxides founded in soil that can form stable complexes with glyphosate. When we increased the concentration of glyphosate, the amount of glyphosate (contaminant) in leachate where found to be 25x (15.96ppm) >15x (3.91) > 5x (3ppm) column. The behavior of glyphosate leachate fits the first order reaction and the isotherm is in according with the Freundlich adsorption equation with R 2 value 0.98, k value 6.4 and n value 1.07 which indicates good adsorption to soil.

Transport of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in a Calcareous Wetland Soil
Knowledge of transport and degradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) is important in assessing PAH contamination of soils and water resources. The transport of naphthalene, anthracene, pyrene and phenanthrene was determined in a contaminated calcareous soil obtained from the Shadegan wetland (Khozestan, Iran) considering a column study in laboratory conditions. The PAHs were added ...
متن کاملMeasurement and modelling of glyphosate fate compared with that of herbicides replaced as a result of the introduction of glyphosate-resistant oilseed rape.
BACKGROUND Crops resistant to glyphosate may mitigate the increasing contamination of the environment by herbicides, since their weeding requires smaller amounts of herbicides and fewer active ingredients. However, there are few published data comparing the fate of glyphosate with that of substitute herbicides under similar soil and climatic conditions. The objectives of the work reported here ...
متن کاملColloidal Mobilization and Fate of Trace Heavy Metals in Semi-Saturated Artificial Soil (OECD) Irrigated with Treated Wastewater
The mobility of selected heavy metals in trace concentrations was investigated in a standard OECD soil irrigated with the effluent of a real municipal wastewater treatment plant. While Cd, Cu and Ni accumulation-migration patterns were mainly influenced by the mobility of colloids generated from soil organic and inorganic matter, Zn mobility was more influenced by the wastewater content of diss...
متن کاملبررسی نقش جریان ترجیحی و مواد آلی بر روند انتقال کادمیوم، سرب و روی در یک خاک لومی آهکی
Increasing soil contamination by chemicals has become an issue of increasing environmental concern. Leaching of chemicals into and through the vadose zone creats serious problems due to the contamination of the soil matrix, soil solution and groundwater. Therefore, in order to study the effect of the preferential flow, macropores and organic matter on mobility and leaching of the metals such as...
متن کاملFacilitated transport of diuron and glyphosate in high copper vineyard soils.
The fate of organic herbicides applied to agricultural fields may be affected by other soil amendments, such as copper applied as a fungicide. The effect of copper on the leaching of diuron and glyphosate through a granitic and a calcareous soil was studied in the laboratory using sieved-soil columns. Each soil was enriched with copper sulfate to obtain soil copper concentrations of 125, 250, 5...
