Imaging Tau Deposits In Vivo: Progress in Viewing More of The Proteopathy Picture

چکیده
In this issue of Neuron, Maruyama et al. (2013) demonstrate the binding of a new class of selective tau ligands, termed PBBs, to tau deposits in transgenic mice and in human subjects with normal cognition, Alzheimer's disease, or a corticobasal syndrome.

P96: Progress in the Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease by Gene Therapy
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a progressive neurological disorder characterized by the aggregation of two proteins, amyloid-b and hyper phosphorylated tau, and by neuronal and synaptic loss. The progress of gene-modified cells and stem cells is a particularly promising therapeutic method for AD. Gene-Modified Cell-Based Therapy for AD prior to transplantation can be beneficial for increasin...
متن کاملCharacteristics of Tau and Its Ligands in PET Imaging.
Tau deposition is one of the neuropathological hallmarks in Alzheimer's disease as well as in other neurodegenerative disorders called tauopathies. Recent efforts to develop selective tau radiopharmaceuticals have allowed the visualization of tau deposits in vivo. In vivo tau imaging allows the assessment of the regional distribution of tau deposits in a single human subject over time for deter...
متن کاملEPID in vivo Dosimetry
Introduction: The most modern radiotherapy devices are equipped with an Electronic Portal Imaging Device (EPID) system which is located on opposite side of the machine’s head. EPID system is often used to setting up the position verification during or between radiotherapy sessions. Material and Methods: Various types of dosimeters have been used to setting up ...
متن کاملPatient absorbed dose comparison in CT and Stereoradiography (EOS) imaging during lower limb torsion evaluation using in-vivo and in-vitro dosimetry methods
Introduction: Accurate evaluation of femoral and tibial torsion is essential for children or adult with legs deformity, becuse incorrect legs morphogenesis can lead to pathological situation. CT scan is commonly used for the measurement of skeletal bone parameters. But, disability in imaging from standing and sitting posture and absorb dose of patients are deficits of this meth...
متن کاملUntangling tau imaging
In vivo imaging of tau deposits is providing a better understanding of the temporal and spatial tau deposition in the brain, allowing a more comprehensive insight into the causes, diagnoses, and potentially treatment of tauopathies such as Alzheimer's disease, progressive supranuclear palsy, corticobasal syndrome, chronic traumatic encephalopathy, and some variants of frontotemporal lobar degen...
