چکیده

We establish that regularly extended two-way nondeterministic tree automata with unranked alphabets have the same expressive power as regularly extended nondeterministic tree automata with unranked alphabets. We obtain this result by establishing regularly extended versions of a congruence on trees and of a congruence on, so called, views. Our motivation for the study of these tree models is the Extensible Markup Language (XML), a metalanguage for deening document grammars. Such grammars have regular sets of right-hand sides for their productions and tree automata provide an alternative and useful modeling tool for them. In particular, we believe that they provide a useful computational model for what we call caterpillar expressions.

The Regularity of Two-Way Nondeterministic Tree Automata Languages

NEW DIRECTION IN FUZZY TREE AUTOMATA

In this paper, our focus of attention is the proper propagationof fuzzy degrees in determinization of $Nondeterministic$ $Fuzzy$$Finite$ $Tree$ $Automata$ (NFFTA). Initially, two determinizationmethods are introduced which have some limitations (one inbehavior preserving and other in type of fuzzy operations). Inorder to eliminate these limitations and increasing theefficiency of FFTA, we defin...

On Probability Distributions for Trees: Representations, Inference and Learning

We study probability distributions over free algebras of trees. Probability distributions can be seen as particular (formal power) tree series [BR82; EK03], i.e. mappings from trees to a semiring K. A widely studied class of tree series is the class of rational (or recognizable) tree series which can be defined either in an algebraic way or by means of multiplicity tree automata. We argue that ...

Extended Temporal Logic Revisited

A key issue in the design of a model-checking tool is the choice of the formal language with which properties are specified. It is now recognized that a good language should extend linear temporal logic with the ability to specify all !-regular properties. Also, designers, who are familiar with finite-state machines, prefer extensions based on automata than these based on fixed points or propos...

Global Model-Checking of Infinite-State Systems

We extend the automata-theoretic framework for reasoning about infinitestate sequential systems to handle also the global model-checking problem. Our framework is based on the observation that states of such systems, which carry a finite but unbounded amount of information, can be viewed as nodes in an infinite tree, and transitions between states can be simulated by finite-state automata. Chec...
