چکیده

Transport phenomena involved in the leaching of a radioactive material from a composite matrix into surrounding water are investigated using three methods based on theoretical equations. These are: diffusion equation derived for a plane source model, rate equation for diffusion coupled with a first-order reaction and an empirical method employing a polynomial equation. The obtained results are compared with respect to their applicability to the 137 Cs leaching data.

Leaching Study in Process of Solidification of Radionuclide Co in Concrete

To assess the safety for disposal of radioactive waste-cement composition, the leaching of Co from a waste composite into a surrounding fluid has been studied. Leaching tests were carried out in accordance with a method recommended by IAEA. Determination of retardation factors, KF and coefficients of distribution, kd, using a simplified mathematical model for analyzing the migration of radionuc...

Response of soil microorganisms to radioactive oil waste : 1 results from a leaching experiment

13 Oil wastes produced in large amounts in the processes of oil extraction, refining, and 14 transportation are of great environmental concern because of their mutagenicity, toxicity, high 15 fire hazardousness, and hydrophobicity. About 40% of these wastes contain radionuclides; 16 however, the effects of oil products and radionuclides on soil microorganisms are frequently 17 studied separatel...

Removal and Recovery of Uranium from Solid Wastes by Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Fluid Leaching Method

Supercritical CO2 fluid leaching (SFL) method using supercritical CO2 fluid containing a complex of HNO3 tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) was applied to removal of uranium from radioactive solid wastes. Sea sands, incineration ashes and porous alumina bricks were employed as matrixes of simulated solid wastes. Real radioactive incineration ash wastes and firebrick wastes were also subjected to the S...

MINTEQ modeling for evaluating the leaching behavior of heavy metals in MSWI fly ash.

At present, all kinds of municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash stabilization technology has been reported and successfully applied in many countries. However, leaching procedures are very different that the technologies lack uniform standard, and it is even impossible to predict the long-term stabilization. Geochemical model can explain the environmental stabilization based on chemi...
