چکیده

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Single-incision laparoscopic surgery is becoming more widely used, but few combined procedures have been reported. Herein we share our experience with single-incision laparoscopic combined cholecystectomy and appendectomy. METHODS We reviewed data from 26 patients who underwent single-incision laparoscopic combined cholecystectomy and appendectomy between May 1, 2009 and June 1, 2013 at Shengjing Hospital. All the procedures were performed with conventional laparoscopic instruments placed through a single operating portal of entry created within the umbilicus. RESULTS All the operations were successfully completed without conversion to conventional laparoscopic or open surgery. No intraoperative complications occurred. Patients were satisfied with the therapeutic and cosmetic outcomes. CONCLUSIONS Single-incision laparoscopic combined cholecystectomy and appendectomy appear to be a technically feasible alternative to the standard laparoscopic procedure in simultaneous management of coexisting benign gallbladder and appendix pathologies. Larger studies are required to confirm these findings.

Preemptive Analgesia in Single-Incision Laparoscopic Surgery

cision is closely associated with postoperative wound pain [9]. The single umbilical incisions reported in other studies typically reached lengths of 15 to 20 mm. Although postoperative pain has not been a major concern since the introduction of the routine laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC), supporters of a single-incision LC (SILC) advocate the hypothesis that a reduction in the number of inci...

Laparoscopic Morgagni hernia repair using single-site umbilical and full-thickness abdominal wall repair: technical report of two cases.

Single incision laparoscopic surgery is used in many centres for routine cases such as appendectomy, splenectomy and cholecystectomy. INTRODUCTION The potential of single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) as a less invasive and more cosmetically appealing technique has prompted the expansion of its adoption. SILS has been shown to be a safe and feasible alternative to traditional multiport cholecystectomy, appendectomy, colectomy, and many other laparoscopic procedures. The objective of this study is to provide an initial ...

This article aims to review the current evidence regarding SILS for these three commonly ind...

Single-incision laparoscopy-assisted subtotal gastrectomy for intractable gastric ulcer: a case report.

PURPOSE Single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) offers excellent cosmetic results and may be associated with decreased postoperative pain and accelerated recovery. Although there have been reports of cholecystectomy and appendectomy using SILS, there have been few reports of gastric resection with intracorporeal reconstruction of the digestive tract using SILS. The first single-incision lap...
